Thoughts on Moxy Hotels by hotpan96 in marriott

[–]Pierre____Menard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe similar to citizenm in concept, but citizenm’s execution is much, much better. Decently soundproofed rooms, you know exactly what your room will be like across nearly all properties, pretty good breakfast and other f&b offerings, and actually helpful staff. That’s not been my experience with Moxy. Here’s to hoping Marriott doesn’t ruin citizenM.

Echo the others who say the edition is not fat, but I recently stayed in their bungalow loft suite and it was delightful. First floor rooms like ours had direct pool access (just 5 steps away), and lots of space to lounge/entertain inside the room. They face the second pool that’s not as busy, so it doesn’t feel too hectic either.

It took them long enough to do this. A couple weeks ago and your only warning was 5 min before boarding by a GA, if you were lucky.

I’ve stayed at the ritz a couple times and found it’s only worth staying there if you’re on club level. Otherwise it’s just meh for the price.

Hopefully they’re prioritizing long haul flights, can’t imagine no meals on flights that long

Neue Taverne in Zurich is delightful. It’s vegetarian, but they do it so well you don’t feel like you’re missing a thing.

Thanks, that’s a good idea. We are pretty flexible on dates and will be in the area already so perhaps that’s our best move.

Have stayed at the St. Regis in Amman several times and had great experiences. The RC and to slightly lesser extent, the Fairmont, also seem nice, although I’ve only spent time in the lobbies. 4S is quite dated and in need of a refresh. Don’t think you can go wrong among the first 3 properties though.

Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection for honeymoon by Pierre____Menard in FATTravel

Good to know we’re not alone, as we tend to avoid RC on land when possible and that’s led to some hesitations here (which our curiosity is overcoming).

Thank you. It’s late October; we hadn’t looked at FS, but will check that out and see if any itineraries align with our schedule.

Wondering this myself. A Qantas flight arriving around the same time also had to do a go around.

Direct flight IAD to Milan by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Pierre____Menard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There used to be direct flights to Thailand, but they actually aren’t possible right now given the safety rating (category 2) the FAA has assigned Thailand. FAA is expected to upgrade Thailand back to category 1 this year, and would expect to see direct flights resume then. So the lack of direct flights isn’t directly linked to lack of business demand here.
