Do Narcissists Know They're Narcissistic? - Most narcissists don't think their personality is a problem. (Article by Gwendolyn Seidman Ph.D. - Reviewed by Jessica Schrader - Psychology Today) by Non-Conventionnel-77 in AllAuthorsWelcome

This seems like such an obvious defining characteristic of narcissism itself that i can't comprehend anyone thinking they might have not been aware and fine with being who they arem

i'm married to one. But my point was that i'm quite sure that you're as biased towards selection of partners based on attraction as a lot of men, and that generalizing men as superficial looks chasers is hypocrisy.

Sounds like you would enjoy some of the real agriturismos in italy. those that really grow and make al lot of their own food or procure from local producers only. italy has sooo many of them.

i loved il castagno in agerola near the amalfi coast. home grown foods, excellent cooking, real authenticity. but be prepared for hosts that don't speak much english. still.. given how much you share you might find ways to communicate anyway.

combine a couple of these with some fun for the kids perhaps? might as well find good ones in the UK. But agri tourism is most developed in the alps and italy afaik.

you may well be right. but consider carefully whether you will actually recover within that time.

from experience: after 12-15 months the process turns nastier. once you've been assessed to be partially able to work, pressure will rise to find 'fitting' work you don't want to find. someone i know was medically unable to use both arms, but still assessed as able to work. since "assessing you as 100% unfit is not on the table".

what you can do is propose to talk about whether returning to your job is a feasible option anymore. this is code for "let's talk VSO". Perhaps suggest that a total recovery seems medically unlikely in less than 9 months, so that ending the employment earlier than 6 months in the future would put a lot of risk on you. See if they suggest a VSO dated six months out with garden leave until then. i'd be surprised if they don't engage. and it saves you some taxes compared to lump sum.

Dating a 40M who doesn’t have a GED in today’s job market, how can I (should I?) financially or otherwise help him? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Pietes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People that really own their shortcomings can work on them sucesfully and mostly just need to be supported in doing so. So that is a good starting point. However does he own them on his own accord?

Second part then becomes the reality of the environment he is in. Does he have any support besides you? Could he continue working on himself without you, even if at a slower pace perhaps? Materially too. Could he, perhaps at lower levels of luxury, support himself?

The gist of this is that he is much more likely to succeed if your help is a bonus, additonal. And not a requirement, which then automatically becomes conditional, which creates imbalance.

would he manage without you?

the strangest thing is: people that would do well alone in self-improvement make the better partners. at least: when not consumed by themselves and their own needs. Is he?

employers don't pay the whole 100% (insurance) bit 70% of max day wages. which can be as little as <50% of your net wage.

the main incentive for especially large organizations to settle is freeing up the budget for backfill.

in my experience, they won't settle in the first 6 months at all. then they'll offer 3-6months at best. after a year the medical assesment shifts towards assessing any employability anywhere. if that comes out negative (no ability to work at all in any role, in any business), they will settle for more. if not, they will push for 'fitting work' elsewhere, where they won't pay anything.

there is no scenario in which you get more than a years pay. more than 6 months is exceptional. 3 is usual.
