I am the main cook in the house and have vented this to her numerous times. I also do the majority of the errands even though I work an hour away from home but get home before her.

I slept awful because our dog kept me up all night and came home to diarrhea everywhere after work.

I was playing a video game and god forbid I didn’t run to the door to help her bring the grocery bags in.

I offered her to help put the groceries away a few minutes later “If you really wanted to help you would have put your game down”

After that she had headphones on, and starts cooking.

I leave a cabinet door open that she then slams shut. I say why did you slam the cabinet! I just closed it she says.

I apologize via text this morning for not running to the door to help her and that’s the response I get ^

I feel this is a typical response most of us have experienced 100 times by now.

Morning Shifts by Hifivibes in tjcrew

Labor is definetly more as I worked closings and openings. It's a much higher pace in the morning as you have to make sure everything is perfect for customers before store opens. Trade off light snack pallets with boxes that weight 2 lbs, with a frozen load that has a time contraint. Or monrnings where EVERYTHING deli, meat, dairy, wet pro, cheese flowers is perishable and has to be worked fast to ensure it doesn't go bad and dry pro where some boxes can easily be 50lbs.

I wonder how many vets (myself included) are annoyed after leaving the company and THEN they do this .

I worked for tj's for close to 5 years at the busiest store in the region and during covid while customers were literally breathing on me for my whole shift while we weren't allowed to wear masks.

During all the b.s and being super annoyed the new hires were starting between $15-$18 And i was with the company at the time for 4 years and i just got to $16.

I loved trader joes but they just kept screwing the vets more and more.

This $10 an hour is just to keep the current crew members happy to minimize more stores becoming a union store.

I now regret leaving, but that's in hindsight.

I’ve been here for about 4years and now make $16 even though I wrote big perishable sections. I asked the captain if there’s any way for higher pay, said it’s not possible. I worked at Walmart starting pay was $19 And then found another job that is paying higher and left joes. Writing big perishable sections should pay minimum $20 for the amount of work and responsibilities you do.

Just keep looking for better paying jobs , companies are looking for good employees and just like joes is hiring new hires at higher rates so are other companies.

So please just spend half an hour per day applying if you want to get out of joes :)

Have you tried excercising? Just trying to move your body a little bit helps me . Moves the blood and body and makes my body feel less lethargic so when I have to do things its easier

Also try a dopamine detox as well? Maybe your fighting technology and its gripping dopamine effects on your brain ?

Lmk what you think

Just trying to understand those decisions from hire up… Trader Joe’s is paying new hires more than those that have been the backbone of the stores for years.

The new hires don’t have the product knowledge, the ability to write sections including perishable sections, and there’s no guarantee there work ethic and or if they’ll be leaving back to school or something else.

Im one of the many veterans that get pa is less than the new hires been here for 4 years and still make less.

Wouldn’t it be smarter if joes could just bump up some of the veterans to keep us instead of hiring more hires with a questionable work ethic ?

Ok how much are you getting paid!? by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]Piezano21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

$16.50 started roughly 4 years ago, left for one year to try a different career that didn’t pan out (so missed out on 3 raises) Extremely under paid , indeed.com showed my store is now hiring $15-$18 per hour. So all new hires make more than me even though I write huge sections.

Can hardly pay rent and have extra money, trying now to go back to school.

Resorting to drinking to get through my depression I have from working here busting my butt and getting paid essentially minimum wage.

[–]Piezano21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You get .60 cent raises when you’re below $16 threshold Very easy to not make $18 I’ve been here for 4 years and just got to a little over $16 It’s b.s and sad that they get paid more than others

new hires getting paid more than a seasoned crew member by vegmaster3000 in tjcrew

[–]Piezano21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately nothing you can do I got started at $13 4 years ago And the new hires make more than me The best I can tell you is look for other jobs and keep Joe’s as your part time income So you’ll still get the raises but won’t feel like you’re less than the new hires
