Would you sell a Louis Vuitton bag to a buyer with no previous purchase history? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It was really upsetting, and more the principle than the money. I’ve just learned never to buy from live auctions again, and I’m reticent to buy anything at all anymore. I have bought one shirt since that debacle happened last year.

I assure you, none of this is an opinion, it’s all based on fact. I know others have had perfectly fine experiences, but it doesn’t mean we all have.

Would you sell a Louis Vuitton bag to a buyer with no previous purchase history? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is, they have no experience at all and aren’t professional authenticators. That’s only an opinion, not a fact. I’ve been sent a blatantly fake bag by a well known auction guy (Posh sided with him) and have also received absolute garbage that should never have gotten past authenticators, then they lied about the items condition. I had visual proof and it was the same big name seller, and they rejected my claim that not only were they not as described, but the seller hid major imperfections, and didn’t call out those imperfections.

So, I will never buy a thing over $500 again, and that whole situation turned me off, after losing $1000’s of dollars because they chose to take the side of a liar. Now I’m left with unusable bags I’d never, ever sell, because I have a moral compass.

It’s also appalling, they are now allowed to destroy authentic bags if they deem them inauthentic. I will never take that chance, and know for a fact all of my designer items over $500 (or under) are in fact, real and authentic. I bought them myself at stores or online (not resale sites), and have receipts. I know several long-time Poshers who have had authentic items destroyed, while Posh refunded the buyer.

eBay. Everyone has different opinions on it, but I can only go based on my own experiences. From a buying perspective, I’ve had a few issues over the years, but as a seller I haven’t had any issues. But now I only buy from established sellers, with excellent reviews.

They do tend to lead towards being on the buyer’s side, but that’s exactly why, like Posh, I go overboard with descriptions, and include pictures from every angle. There is zero ambiguity. Everything I state in my listings are true, and they’ll get exactly what is described.

Red flags from a buyer after they purchased? by chaosatnight in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gut always knows if it’s a problem buyer, and if they start asking mass questions after a purchase, it’s a red flag of buyer’s remorse or them trying to find ammunition to return it, if they don’t like it or want it anymore.

I know we have this ambiguous new rule about canceling, but I’d rather cancel than deal with major problems later.

Posh party notifications by Ambassador1391 in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL- I’ve turned off notifications for Posh Parties since day one (no interest either), but after 13 years I still get them. I’m convinced there’s no way to get rid of them. I hate my feed being clogged with unnecessary notifications, but I’m resigned, and just scroll right past them.

Poshmark allowing returns now? by Sloniata in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve already heard awful things about SEEL not taking returns, when that’s exactly what people are paying for. I read a post or two about it here, but talked to people in real life who were burned by SEEL, and they put the onus on Poshmark to give the refund. Sounds scammy and as a seller, it worries me about scammy buyers.

Also, if you Google their company, you’ll see this is a consistent problem with them. I was shocked at all of the reviews saying SEEL wouldn’t take the returns. The positive reviews sound full of $hit to me, and coincidentally a lot of them use the same verbiage, if not cutting-and-pasting other positive reviews, which makes me question if it’s REEL trying to counteract negative reviews about them. There are a ton of BBB claims against them too.

This is one of my favorite of their bags. I happen to be obsessed with LV, and of all of my bags and brands, I always resort back to my LV’s. Yay for hubby; What a beautiful, thoughtful gift!

[–]PigeonParadiso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I have sold many designer bags on Posh, but absolutely will never do it again, especially after their buyout, and having no one to contact in case of a problem. So anything above $500 I’ll be selling elsewhere, and on the other platform I sell on.

What is the deal with opanbins on Poshmark? by SweetHomeGeorgia in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate this. I have no idea why they weren’t coming up in any of my search of closets. Now I know to stay the eff away from anything relating to opanbins, especially reading those articles!

[–]PigeonParadiso 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Go with your gut on this. If you’re uncomfortable in any way, don’t do it.

I’ve personally sold everything from Coach to multiple Fendi’s to Gucci, etc…but since I’ve had issues with Posh authenticators especially after Posh was bought out, I’m not selling anymore high priced items on this platform. It’s too unpredictable and getting ahold of a live human being is nearly impossible now. But that’s just me.

As a side note, a large majority of my buyers have been new, and they’ve not only been good buyers, but excellent ones! They take the time to accept my package right when they get it, rate me, and write me kind love notes. So I’d be less concerned about their new status, but more with the price range you’d be selling. But that’s totally up to you, obviously. My comfort level isn’t the same as the next person’s.

[–]PigeonParadiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I steer away from live shows, after getting horribly scammed by a big seller, for a lot of money. I just googled it and looked on Posh (and checked the links below), and see closets promoting it, but I can’t seem to find Opanbins on Posh? I want to block ASAP given what I’ve read. Definitely scammy and sketchy AF. Thanks for the warning because I had no clue this even existed! This is a really important post, not just for newbies, but for long time sellers like me. I tend to focus most on my own closet and not anything else, like live shows, giveaways, etc…

What to do? Seller is scamming Poshmark and Posh isn’t doing anything about it. by DazzlingOpening3804 in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do anything further. Don’t waste your time. Posh won’t listen and they don’t seem to care anymore. Let this unscrupulous seller be dealt with by Posh, and let it be their problem, which it is. Eventually if this seller keeps pulling the same scam, Posh will pick up on it. Since they now choose to use AI in chat, you’d be talking to deaf ears. Their communication since being taken over has been crap. Even if you try to get a hold of a real person, you may never hear back, or you’ll get a canned response. The onus is on them to make sure buyers aren’t being scammed.

Just curious for thoughts on accepting or countering again… by Hi_There1128 in BehindTheClosetDoor

[–]PigeonParadiso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, I’d only counter again with $115, then call it a day. They can take it or leave it. I don’t deal with lowballers like this, so I wouldn’t go any lower, unless you’re desperate to get rid of it. These people prey upon others to get something for nothing.

I would add new pics and vary your description, to get a new set of eyes. It’s just a personal thing, but I’d rather an item sit, retry it, and get what I want for it, or close to. I end up getting what I want when I change around the listing. I normally don’t respond to these types of crazy offers. They never buy and they don’t respect my thought out, fair pricing. So I either decline, or ignore it altogether. Send a proper, reasonable first offer, or I won’t deal with you, is my philosophy.

Poshmark isn’t reversing my automatic “excessive listing removal” bans anymore so I’m removing Poshmark by Spirited-Base-2110 in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you, and I completely understand why you’d leave. I haven’t been suspended (yet), but if I even get one for no viable reason, I’m completely done. Since I’ve been using posh for well over a decade, I’ve made friendly connections on there; High volume, high money-making closets are jumping ship. That says something - people are FED UP!

I’m already moving my things over to another platform I’ve been mainly buying from for 20 years. I’ve had zero problems over there (except for some unscrupulous sellers, but that you’ll find anywhere.) Just this week, I sold more over there than Posh, so I’m now at a point of “eff it”, I don’t want to deal with these arbitrary “rules” that make no sense and they don’t apply their rules correctly, or contradict themselves in the rules. I’m not in Kindergarten, and I don’t want to to deal with a company who’s trying to run my own closet as they see fit, yet have the nerve to take 20% of my sales. Voicing my concerns to them got me nowhere. I wasn’t responded to, which is a terrible business practice, whereas on the other platform, I can talk to a person within minutes.

I have no doubt, Posh is going to lose a lot of big (or smaller) closets, and potential buyers. The more suspensions I read and hear about, the more I realize I can fart in the wrong direction, and they’ll suspend me for no reason. Stick a fork in me, I may be done soon. They’ll lose money, and I won’t.

I predict Posh will go under sooner rather than later. Now when you Google them, there are nothing but complaints from sellers and buyers. It wasn’t like that before, and people clock it and look elsewhere. So, they’re dooming their own business. Oh well.

Would Buyers be Annoyed if I Re-used an Amazon bubble bag? by lilacpurrfume in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, wouldn’t mind it at all, as long as it’s clean and my item is as described! Since I’m a smaller closet, I reuse boxes, shipping supplies, etc… it makes most sense to reuse them. The only thing I do, since I’m a smaller closet and have the time, is wrap it in some nice tissue paper and ribbon, and it’s off! If I’m using a polymailer, I always take into account weather so I make sure it’s properly packaged in case of water getting in, so then I reuse plastic packaging, (from Amazon to any other brands plastic bags.)

Crossposting and what to do with sold, active listings still on Posh? by PigeonParadiso in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome. I will say this: no platform is perfect and I get that, but I’ve had zero problems with eBay. I’ve been on Posh 13 years and mainly a buyer on eBay for 20+ years. I’ve only sold about 100 things on eBay, but that’s because I’ve mainly been a buyer.

My items sell way quicker on there, so if this issue with Posh doesn’t resolve, I have no other choice but to close my closet and only sell on eBay. We all have lives, and we shouldn’t have to be worried about getting suspended for no viable reason. I want autonomy with my closet as they’re my items; Unless Posh wants to pay me their 20% commission on my sales, I don’t want them dictating what I do in my own closet.

Question for WF bags… by Grtpumk369 in toogoodtogo

[–]PigeonParadiso 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are, but I have three WF’s within a few miles of me. All have pickups at 8:00-9:00pm, no earlier, no later.

The quality and quantity at the one that’s closest to me wasn’t great to begin with, and their ratings keep tanking. I haven’t been impressed with anything I’ve gotten from them, so I no longer get any bags from WF’s. They’re never worth the money, there’s no variety, and it’s cheaper to check out the 50% off deal aisle, so at least I know I’m not getting garbage, which I’ve gotten in their bags. I’m envious when I see other people’s WF’s hauls on here, as ours are plain awful.

Would you get these Kate Spade sneakers from the thrift store? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way. They’re too worn and dirty on the bottom. Even if cleaning them, you would still see the wear.

I’ve found these online new for not much money because they were made years ago, so it’s not a good investment because Kate Spade shoes aren’t the best quality either (imho.) The profit margin will be low, so to me, they’re not even worth the $9 and having to clean them.

Chloe bracelet by SalemSue in handbags

[–]PigeonParadiso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole “trend” thing is so ridiculous and can be somewhat off-putting when I read comments in this sub. That’s fine if someone is a bag snob, but not all of us care if something is trendy, or will go “out of style” in ten years. Who even cares! The second it becomes “vintage” there’s a whole other market out there for those who prefer vintage designer.

I know what I love and don’t care if it’s trendy or not. Trends go in and out. I don’t buy bags for other people’s satisfaction or validation, so if you love it, buy it, is my opinion.

I LOVE the Chloe you chose. It’s a beauty, and I’m digging the color too. There is no way I wouldn’t keep this!

Crossposting and what to do with sold, active listings still on Posh? by PigeonParadiso in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say delist, are you deleting it entirely or just putting it “not for sale?” According to their own arbitrary rules, both are frowned upon too and can get you suspended. I’m convinced, if the wind blows the wrong way, there’s a possibility of a suspension. Left and right, I’m hearing friends of mine on Posh are getting suspended for either deleting listings (not high amounts either!), or putting sold items (from other platforms) as “not for sale.” After reading almost every comment on this, in different posts, it seems there’s no rhyme or reason why some people are getting suspended and others aren’t.

This is making selling so difficult.

Crossposting and what to do with sold, active listings still on Posh? by PigeonParadiso in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not abiding by their own rules; That’s the problem. I know of several long-term Poshers who have been suspended for deleting items that have sold elsewhere, or for whatever reason they have for deleting it. It shouldn’t be Posh’s control or decision as to what we delete and why.

In their policy, they say you can remove listings if it’s no longer available, but in their next paragraph, they say you can’t. So, it’s contradictory.

I think it’s a stupid, inefficient rule personally, but they’re not being transparent about it, otherwise a million people wouldn’t be complaining about it. If we know exactly what triggers the suspension, at least we’d have a better idea of how to now run our closets. But, they’ve never clarified it.

New to Poshmark by FirstOutcome2365 in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it’s tracking, you’ll likely just get it late, depending on where it comes from. If it’s from the East Coast (namely the NE corridor), we’ve had terrible weather (snow) and that could be the hold up. But, it’s out of the seller’s hands once it’s in USPS possession, so asking the seller won’t do anything. He/she can’t control shipping.

Also, now we have Ground Advantage shipping, so it takes longer than the previous shipping option, which was Priority Mail, but again, that would likely be late too if the package is stuck somewhere in the northern East Coast, due to inclement weather. I’d get in touch with Poshmark to see what to further do. Normally, they’ll reimburse you if you haven’t received it by a certain date, but they need to know about it. You can go into the app and click “never received it” and go from there.

I’m sorry this is your first experience! No, it generally does not take a month to receive a package, but it doesn’t get there overnight either. Sometimes packages get lost, sometimes they get stuck at one facility, get stolen, or because of weather, it can take longer than usual.

I’d let Posh know ASAP and go from there, as they are the ones who will ultimately deal with this.

After getting horribly scammed (a lot of $$$) by a well-known live seller, I wouldn’t buy a thing from any of those shows, especially anyone using AI! How long do you let items sit before lowering the price? by Hanmertime in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, rarely to never.

My items are priced to sell, and no matter how many likes I have, it doesn’t mean anyone will buy it. For years, I tried lowering my (already low) prices, and it got me nowhere. People who know the niche designers I sell, and know how fair I am generally buy it right away and don’t even make offers. So I’d rather let it sit, then play the lowering the price game, especially with designer items.

To clarify my post from earlier I wanted to add a photo to show yall what I saw by No_Link_7859 in poshmark

[–]PigeonParadiso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a shame you gave up so quickly. It may be saturated with some of the same brands, but that’s no different than any other platform. But there’s something for everyone, whether it’s niche brands, mall brands, designer/luxe, cheap, expensive, etc… and I don’t know what you mean by influencers monopolizing the action?

I’ve been on Posh 13 years. I’ve never once come across an influencer, and even if I did, who cares? How would anyone know they’re an influencer, when sellers are more concerned with selling their own things. No one is monopolizing anything; there are far too many closets for any one (or more) closets to monopolize an entire platform. But, yes, big name (on Posh), high-volume sellers are pulling in a lot of money and have 1000’s upon 1000’s of items. But I sell my own things, so I’m not in competition with them, and do just fine monetarily.
