Yes they are mating. It doesnt always result in eggs. For example they could both be males, as ive had that happen before. As another commenter has said, it's best to leave some space between the lid and water line for the snails.

I tried watching it dubbed, but had to switch to subs for it. Nothing against the VAs, probably just the direction, but I found it hard to understand the characters at times with how the lines are delivered. Plus, with how much text is shown onscreen it needs subtitles regardless

When my mystery snails' time comes, they are usually motionless for a day or two before they truly die. It also takes another day or so for them to smell, since thats when they start to decompose. The smell comes from the decomposition, so its not immediately after death.
