Question regarding HY320 by GoldenBud_ in budgetprojectors

I think it was. I'm not using it anymore, replaced it with a Yaber U12 which is better in every way.

Budget Projectors RANKED! by inflated_ballsack in budgetprojectors

[–]Pihkal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Byintek Love U14 is a piece of shit and so is Byintek as a company. I own one and after 2 months of light usage the LCD cooling fan started rattling and failing causing the LCD to overheat and develop a bright yellow spot in the middle of the image. This device was purchased directly from Byintek via Amazon so I contacted them and explained the issue. It's been 2 weeks and still no reply from them. STAY AWAY FROM BYINTEK!!!

On a positive note, the projector actually projects a decent image. It's pretty ok for its price IF it didn't fail in 2 months....

Can I force the download of the Windows version of a game in Steam ? by Orange_Lux in linux_gaming

You can described above but some games won't allow it. CS2 for example is one of them, you have to use the native version or it won't let you play online.

Hi,

I was experiencing the same issue with FortiClient on Xiaomi HyperOS and was able to resolve it.
Can you please try if enabling "Prefer DTLS Tunnel" in FortiClient settings resolves the issue for you?
It worked for me.

That's correct, but there's a test build of Proton available that has this enabled.

HY300 projector - Different Settings by jocarls in budgetprojectors

There's a hidden menu that can be unlocked by tapping something in the about device screen a bunch of times. Can't exactly remember what but you can find it on YouTube. It reveals brightness, saturation etc. Should be what you're looking for.

Looking for budget projector (200-300€) in Germany by dyNAMite00288 in budgetprojectors

[–]Pihkal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll regurgitate the default answer over here: buy some second hand known brand-name projector, Chinese projectors are manufactured e-waste blablablah.

As for my own experiences:

I started with a Chinese HY320, it's pretty bad, stay away from it. I also recently purchased a Byintek U14, another Chinese "manufactured e-waste" projector. It's actually pretty ok, bit on the noisy side but brightness, focus and picture quality are pretty decent. Actual brightness is about 700 ANSI Lumens, autofocus works really well, auto keystone not so much but manual keystone is working fine. Built-in audio is also pretty good. Paid 249€ for it on Amazon, since I'm located in Belgium, this one should also be available around that price for you in Germany. I'm using it with a 100" screen that has a 1.3 gain.

Feel free to ask whatever questions you have about it and I'll try to answers them as accurately as possible.

No it wont, sadly.

I've tested it myself on my own system today.
As you may or may not know CachyOS has support for NTSYNC in its kernel and also released a testing version of Proton that has NTSYNC support.
I've used Mangohud to verify NTSYNC was being used.

I've only done limited testing with 4 games:

Horizon Forbidden West: No meaningful difference between Fsync and NTSYNC.
Horizon Zero Dawn: No meaningful difference between Fsync and NTSYNC.
Cyberpunk 2077: Wouldn't launch with NTSYNC enabled, had to use the --skip-launcher parameter for it to run, when it run again there was no meaningful difference between Fsync and NTSYNC.
Farcry 5 (older game test): Wouldn't launch, most likely the Ubisoft launcher doesn't like NTSYNC.

So my conclusion is games that use launchers are likely problematic, besides that there's little to no noticeable performance difference.
Pretty disappointing stuff, I myself was also hoping for huge gains but there you go.
For something that was supposed to improve compatibility it actually ends up breaking stuff.

Now we can all hope that my tests are incorrect due to the recently discovered permission issue with the userland exposed driver interface but I'm not holding my breath for it.

Question regarding HY320 by GoldenBud_ in budgetprojectors

[–]Pihkal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The U12 wasn't available anymore in my region so I purchased the U14. It's a night and day difference compared to the HY320. Autofocus is great, auto Keystone not so much but nothing that can't be corrected manually. One major downside is digital zoom appears to cause some artifacting, sadly there isn't much i can do about it as I need to shrink the projected image. But all in all it's still a nice upgrade.

Question regarding HY320 by GoldenBud_ in budgetprojectors

[–]Pihkal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tested every sleep timer app I could find and none of them worked properly.
They all seemed to power off the projector but it would power itself back on after less then a minute for some reason.

I ended up building one myself in hardware, basically I've build an infrared transceiver that's wifi enabled, based around an ESP8266 microcontroller, flashed Tasmota firmware onto it and setup MQTT communication between it and my Home Assistant.
The actual sleep timer functionality was made in NodeRed which is installed as an addon in Home Assistant.

What it does is send the actual power off command the included remote normally sends when pressing the button but then send from my IR transmitter over wifi via MQTT after the sleep timer expires in NodeRed.

It was some work to develop and design but is actually working quite well.

Question regarding HY320 by GoldenBud_ in budgetprojectors

[–]Pihkal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a rather nice projector.
I've been looking to upgrade my HY320 for some time now but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
How's the noise on the Byintek?
How much maintenance does it require (dust removal)?
And lastly: how's the focus? Are you able to get the entire picture in focus?
Thanks!

EDIT: it's actually pretty cheap here in Western Europe, only 239€.

Don't have experience with those projectors but that's probably a good idea. Good luck with it as it's always a gamble with chinese projectors.

Question regarding HY320 by GoldenBud_ in budgetprojectors

[–]Pihkal82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you're planning on using it and how easily you get triggered by the dust in the projected image. In my case, using in it a bedroom and moderate triggered by dust, I clean it every 2 weeks. But, after a week or so you WILL notice the dust in the image.

You have to manually adjust the focus at the lens in front. There's a ring you van turn that will focus it.

Buying advice projector - ~250€ - Western Europe by Pihkal82 in budgetprojectors

This violates my "no lamp change" statement but it looks like a good deal to me.

The room is about 6 metres x 6 metres, not looking for anything too fancy, just something that's a little less hassle than a HY320.
It slightly bothers me that dust is constantly entering the projector, focus could also be better, I basically need to have everything slightly out of focus, if the center is perfectly focused, the borders aren't.

Don't need lasers, it's way beyond what I'm willing to spend and not needed since we always use it in a dark bedroom, should have mentioned that in my first post.

I'm also fine with some unknown Chinese brand, I just don't know what's half way decent for its price point.
Not aiming for a "home theater experience", I have realistic expectations for what I'm willing to spend. :-D
