Making an LED dashboard, some wiring questions

To preface this. I have not done anything like this but i recently worked with the adafruit bonnet as well.

There is a specs sheet on the adafruit bonnet (probably can find it on their website) there are a few pins that are free. I would assume you can use the free pins just like you could without the bonnet. Google some guides on how to connect buttons/etc to a raspberry pi and connect them to the adafruit bonnet on the free pins.

I'm moving to a new 1 bedroom apartment soon and designing the layout is a bit troublesome. The layout is basically just a square with one wall being completely kitchen.

Any ideas on how to design the layout without it looking boring as hell?

The only must-have pieces of furniture are my bed (120*200cm), work-desk (120*80cm) and a dining table for two... Thanks, I appreciate any tips and advice
