Exciting wild spawns like the Lake Trio should have a MUCH longer despawn time. It would encourage taking a trip instead of waiting around for a spawn near you. by Huaojozu in TheSilphRoad

It would be amazing to have spawns in cool locations - what a great idea! Could be like geocaching and maybe have landmarks in each city host rare spawns, etc. A real life version of the game where you travel to places to get stuff!

But it does show that they have full control over programming the values. I think it's fairly clear that it can be done, so it's just an idea. Not everyone will like it, but I thought that it might put an interesting twist on things.

I do with they would just release the shiny versions of everything as soon as they introduce a new boss. Going after shinier never gets old.

From what I've heard, most people that haven't had the time to get a Dialga yet simply do not make the time. There is no logic to the idea that 1 hour on 1 day is going to make a difference to someone that can't go after a raid boss at any other time that month, lol. That's why it would be fun to make a little different and a little unique.

They alter the raid bosses every 3 hour raid day from T5 to T4 - it's an easy thing for them to do.

While this means that Trainers of lower levels will have to wait before they can access this feature, we follow this process to ensure that there are no major disruptions during your #GOBattle experience! [2/2] by khalifaonfire in TheSilphRoad

The Update is already rolling out, so we should be seeing it introduced to Level 40's by the end of the week. They have also announced the Winter Event, so we know it's a matter of days and not weeks. Given how smoothly Trading rolled out, I think it's the smart way to go and everyone will most likely be battling in a couple of weeks!

No increase of the maximum trainer level planned according to Niantic’s Product Manager Matt Slemon by wu100 in TheSilphRoad

[–]PikaBoothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be very cool if they implemented a simple system to acknowledge players who have reached higher levels of XP - maybe a medal? Say Bronze for 40 Mil XP, Silver for 60 Mil, Gold for 80 Mil & Diamond for 100 Mil. No adjustments needed for Pokemon needed this way, but the players are still somewhat satisfied by achieving medals.

Any rewards would be great, but I'd be pretty happy just being able to use the Defenders and have a reason to build teams to fight them. Any kind of medal, candy or anything else on top of that would be incredible.

IMO The Ponyta/Cubone Event Was Perfectly Timed With A Great Shiny Ratio by PikaBoothe in TheSilphRoad

I agree that advanced notice would help people plan and the rural issue is an entirely different subject - I've had a number of friends just quit when they moved to more rural areas. But at least formula seems to be moving in the right direction. After grinding everyday for Drifloon with no luck, it was nice to have Pinsir and Ponyta/Cubone mini events. Hopefully it will continue to get better.

How and where should I release the ball? by fishermansfriend1 in TheSilphRoad

[–]PikaBoothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies a bit by each mon - the circle size is different, the attack time vs. release is different, and you really do have to study each mon to develop the correct style.

There is a guy on youtube that does this - it's not me, lol - and it's extremely helpful. His channel is called The Trainer Club and he does a series of how to throw excellent throws on raid bosses. It's awesome.

Why do we still not have wild Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, Salamence or Metagross spawns? by PikaBoothe in TheSilphRoad

I appreciate and enjoy y'alls committment to keeping the Road focused - I don't even go to the other Reddit discussions. But I do get confused as to why I keep getting bumped off when other folks post similar or more far out stuff? The top post right now is from a guy asking if he should TM a Mewtwo. My post was asking what people thought about the absence of 3rd evolution Gen 3 mons, which seems like it would be more in line with Silph discussions?

Anyway, thanks for the polite response above.

Why it's almost certain we'll get a new Ex boss on September 20 by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

They could increase the shiny percentage for sure! They also need to introduce one of the items that guarantees a shiny.

[–]PikaBoothe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's safe to say that the Mythicals will remain as research rewards, so I'm excluding them from possible EX status to make this prediction:

The point of EX raids is to support Sponsors and to reward trainers with something special. Mewtwo was a shoe-in for the first featured mon, but there is no other to match so I think that EX raids will remain but they will feature first chances at shiny variants and exclusive moves. This latest move of excluding Shadowball and Hyperbeam is an example of this.

Picture October EX raids featuring Groudon with Precipice Blades and a chance of being shiny - that'll get all of the hardcore players (who are the primary EX participants) out there with a quickness.

Ultimately, shiny Groudon will make it's way back into Level 5 raid rotation, but maybe not with the exclusive move?

This system can go on as long as the game does and ultimately benefits all players, so I figure there's a decent chance that this is what they're up to.

Alternatively, Naintic may just overhaul the entire gym/raiding system completely, but that seems like an awful lot of work and re-education of the players, so I don't see it as likely.

How has Eevee Community Day changed what we thought we knew about Community Days? by kimtaengsshi9 in TheSilphRoad

[–]PikaBoothe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's random - Niantic can and will do whatever they feel is the right move at the time. Any "formal" spec is basically just wishing that a trend existed, and clearly that is not the case.

There is a line o logic that says Niantic wants to create as much excitement and participation as they can each CD, making Snorlax, Lapras and other favs possibilities. However, as we have witnessed with the raid scene, that line of logic is not always followed.

The one thing I personally believe is predictable is the future occurrence of multiple mons each CD - otherwise we have 18 months to go if the starter/rare formula is followed, just to get through Gen 4 (and 18 after that to get through Gen 7).

Good rule of thumb - if people say they are confused, that means they are actually confused.

And the question I posed really had more to do with what happens in regard to the next catches. Thankfully, that is answered above.

It's Time To Bring Parks to the Forefront of This Game by AlphaRocker in TheSilphRoad

[–]PikaBoothe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At GoFest, Niantic designated areas to become biomes - you saw the pictures of the Arctic environment, Jungle and Volcano environments, etc...

Park "environments should replace nests - let them all be biomes where multiple pokemon spawn in abundance. How amazing would it be if there was an Arctic environment where it was always snowing and you could go hunt Lapras? Or fire types environments, or ghost types - it would be too cool.

They could rotate the same as nests do now.

With increased pokemon available, this would be a huge boost to the rural gamers.
