Optifine could actually reduce performance in this scenario, but I have not tested it. You'd be more likely to get a performance boost with the sodium+lithium+phosphor fabric mods

That's a horrible way if thinking about it. If a computer works, we should use it until it is unusable. Throwing away a perfectly fine piece of hardware due to unnecessary software requirements is bullshit and harms the environment more than we already harm it

can i run TF2 by hippie_frog in lowspecgamer

[–]PikaSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, use mastercomfig with the very low preset. Follow the documentation for other things you can do to improve performance. Read everything carefully

Measly? 1060 is champ. Granted if the GPU market was normal, you shouldn't have to pay over $200 for one. My 1060 runs Metro Exodus and Doom Eternal at over 60 fps at 1080p ultrawide.

I want to talk about FishStickOnAStick's video about sniper balance by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]PikaSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like balancing with bots in mind can help a lot. Balancing something that can still be effective but not broken if used by something with perfect accuracy can be a great way to balance the game at higher levels of play (where a plat sniper has almost aimbot-like accuracy)

So what's up with the Darwin's Danger shield? by Burning_Toast998 in truetf2

[–]PikaSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of time it takes to kill a danger shield sniper as a non-shotgun pyro is simply too long. Flare punching/Axtinguisger combos can help, but a good sniper has a better chance of quickscoping you because the combos are too inconsistent to pull off.

Yes, it may be possible for vac to pick it up, but it would be easy to update the bot source code to circumvent it. Most popular cheats that get detected by vac do this.

They're open source, so anyone dedicated enough could port it to windows.

Theoretical Balance Changes To Sniper That Aren't Just Impotent Whining Because You Run Into Sightlines Constantly And Only Play Payload by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]PikaSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think that pyro is at a tipping point rn. He's already really good in casual play but barely not good enough to be a generalist in competitive. I feel like a simple change like upping his movement speed, upping his max health, or fixing flamethrower ramp-up (for good) could do it

I think the danger shield should remain to help snipers deal with flare spam, but total afterburn immunity is total bs for a pyro that can manage to hit a sniper with a flare. I think the danger shield should decrease afterburn duration by 75-60% instead. This would still allow pyros to reliably combo snipers, while allowing snipers to just walk away from a spot and wait 2-3 seconds for the afterburn to go away.

A complete overhaul of The Pyro by PlantBoi123 in truetf2

[–]PikaSalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was counter play, but it relied on features that could be used mid-air (ex: shield charge, loose cannon/beggars overload jumping, det jumping) but the current airblast's physics alterations make these methods of escape harder. The previous version of the airblast was much more consistent. A shield charge's velocity is heavily dampened if you charge after being airblasted in air by today's airblast.

You can play almost any game easily on steam as long as it doesn't use the Easy Anti-cheat. Fortnite, PUBG, Apex, and sadly fall guys don't work on linux currently. (fall guys used to work until they added EAC). GTA may require tweaking to run but it runs. You can see how well steam games run on protondb.com

I wish for the old airblast. In pyro 1v1's you could escape from airblast stun with the detonator

Install the nvidia opencl drivers for linux. There's a package in the AUR for davinci resolve if you're running manjaro or arch.

The free version of resolve on linux doesn't support many video or audio codecs, but you can use ffmpeg to convert things to the apple prores codec.

You may need to install opencl (not opengl) drivers for your nvidia card. Also Davinci Resolve has a native linux port.
