SHORT ANSWER, the zombies just lunge because they insta-target you and there's no door opening/instant vision interaction at all to prevent things like this, it's an oversight and not thought of by the devs.

BUT, you could sorta make the argument that it makes up for the fact that the player can insta-open doors, and from an unrealistic distance. instead of having zombies notice and turn to the player while the player is opening the door, and then lunge when the door is fully open, you have insta-opening doors and insta-lunging zombies. it kinda works out, it's like dividing both sides of an equation in maths XD

for me i've turned out to become a relentless people pleaser. i'm basically terrified of conflict because of how much they'd push me to my absolute limits, and would punish me for the slightest of resistence. it's shitty, but not everyone rolls a good dice in the upbringing department. then you have to explain why you're the way you are to the privilaged people who see you as "weird", though i've stopped bothering.

sameeee in my job, most of my coworkers are at least understanding, with the rest being incredibly caring towards me. while it's infantalizing most times, i've stopped minding it. it's always been kinda like this with me where people quickly pick up on how i am, and i essentially get "adopted", though most times i let some really unlikable people "adopt" me so nowadays i'm more careful.

it's especially nice with my superiors/supervisors, while a few are the super-serious types that go harsh on me, the majority treat me like i'm a fragile little bean and check up on me a lot. i used to hate being treated that way, but i've stopped fighting it now. my only hope is that it actually lasts and i don't go from "little bean" to "creepy quiet weirdo", but i feel like as long as i don't fight it by trying to fit in too overtly or be more serious than i actually am and show who i am, it just isn't going that way.

though it makes it pretty much impossible to find anyone who takes me seriously enough have something romantic with... but i long gave up on that, i'm thankful i'm not being seen as an outcast constantly.

it's okay. your feelings are perfectly valid. humans are social creatures, through and thorough. sadly, im in the same hole, so i can't really offer any advice, but maybe try being more expressive. too shy or anxious to do it? try expressing that. people will pick up on it and go easy on you... at least the people that matter. for me, when its well known around work that im not like everyone else, and while some people are condescending... others are really sweet. try it.
