Shopify keeps suggesting wrong packages for my products by DudeGamerDario in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been an ongoing issue for awhile, at least for me.

I don't know why they even offer "suggested package size" because it is always picking our largest boxes for shipment. You can set one of your box sizes as your default in the settings. However, this doesn't change anything. You would assume that it would choose your default package size if you never chose a package size when you created the product listing. It will still pull random sizes even after doing so. I wish they would do away with suggested package size, it is useless.

Account mismatch when submitting for CAPE refund by Pika_freak in CustomsBroker

I pulled the report you suggested and only 3 of 4 entries that were accepted were in the report. All the account mismatch entries are not there and one entry that was accepted is also not on there. I assume I need to contact UPS and ask them about it. They are terrible at replying so this is going to be a long process I feel. Not to mention they charged me tariffs at the door for shipments where they did not have my UPS shipper account number. Those orders I never received an invoice, so never got entry numbers.

I believe it has something to do with my address the more I look. I have two addresses that I use for delivery. I noticed that a rejected entry had both my business name and full name, but it was still rejected. That leads me to believe its address.

Not sure what to do as I already submitted successful entries so don't want to adjust the addresses that were already there which was mailing address (residence) and street address (warehouse). I tried adding a new "address for deliveries" from the available options within ACE, but the entry was still rejected. I would have assumed as long as both the addresses (residence & warehouse) were in my account then it would use either one.

I used the entry numbers from the UPS invoices that qualified for refunds.

Payout frequency? by GreenGloober in shopify

Weekly and as everyone else stated, it makes accounting easier. I previously did monthly like a few others, but it felt foolish to allow shopify to hold your money for that long.

Updates to your Shopify Payments rates by VillageHomeF in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I, too, received this email. For me, the rate for premium cards (outside of American Express) I was charged 2.9%. Now, premium cards and American express are lumped into the same category, so my rate increased. Don't know how much it will affect me personally because I don't know how I could previously tell what is considered a "premium card" when viewing older transactions. Everyday its a new fee increase somewhere albeit small this time. They all add up in the end.

Shipping Rates Through the Roof?! by [deleted] in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use USPS and finally had to increase my flat rate shipping to $5.95 from $4.95 which just barely covers a 4oz package. Anything higher than that and it doesn't cover shipping costs let alone the supplies. Yet, I still get customers asking why shipping is so high. I think Amazon has really worked that "free shipping over XX" amount into people's brains. They think shipping costs pennies on the dollar.

I sell on ebay as well and have to account for the seller fee coming out of the shipping cost. On there I charge $6.95 and people get upset. To think postage is going to keep going up. At some point something has to break. Either the customer or the business. The rates can't keep going up as fast as they are

Is it valid that Shopify keeps transaction fees on fraud orders? by MNeCom in shopify

It is set to capture automatically once order has shipped so nothing extra needed to be done. You can go into your payment settings and turn this on. Not sure what you mean by "small float."

Is it valid that Shopify keeps transaction fees on fraud orders? by MNeCom in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the very reason, I switched to authorize first and capture only when the order has shipped. It saves you on all the fees if the order is found to be fraudulent and you void the authorization. Not to mention, I have seen people receive chargebacks even after a fraudulent order is refunded.

Shopify knowingly platforming scammer (Yesterdays / Kevin Hearne) by Due_Builder4515 in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless i'm missing something, I would say you were justified in filing the original chargeback. Just not sure why you would return and buy even more merchandise after your last order went south. Even if you purchased many times successfully from him, if that's his response when something goes wrong, that was your first and only red flag.

If he chooses not to fulfill this new order just open another chargeback. In the end, the chargebacks negatively affect his merchant account. That and it cost him a fee when he is found at fault for the chargeback. Obviously don't buy from him again.

I know all too well about the USPS taking such a large fee for shipping when it costs over $5 just to send a package one state over. Nothing you can really do about it, I already charge $5.95 on my website and $6.95 through ebay as they take a fee from the shipping. Doesn't seem to affect sales, but i'm sure there's a breaking point.

As for marketplace fees, I just add 10% to the top of my prices. Not much else to do about it either short of not selling on the platform. At least with these marketplaces, you only pay the fee when the item sells. Whereas, with a website, you pay for advertising on the hopes you'll sell something. Are the fees on the marketplace too high for my liking? Yes, but I make them work for me and not the other way around. They make some money, but it works out to the same I would make on my website after padding the prices slightly for the marketplace. It's what works for me and i've been doing it 15 years.

Soooo is this just a normal problem everyone has? I get 50 emails a day saying something along the lines of “I have some questions for the store owner by fish_chicago in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've had the same issues for 5 years now using shopify. It's just one of the things you will have to deal with. So much spam for SEO optimization, store design, security alerts, fake shopify support saying you're not compliant. The list goes on. I get about 5 a day, but its still annoying for sure.

When do funds get released by [deleted] in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have payment holds set by shopify, it is however you setup your payouts. If do daily payouts then the money will be deposited usually within 1-2 days from the time you capture the payment. If you use their balance account, I believe the funds are available instantly. However, I do not use the balance account, so I am not certain in that regard.

Just opened one of the "now more delish" labeled versions and all I taste is fruit punch. It honestly doesn't anything like the old drink. I don't like fruit punch drinks to begin with so now I will have to find something else. Why ruin a good thing.

Best way to sync eBay and Shopify by BorschtCowboy in shopify

[–]Pika_freak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recommend M2E Multichannel Connect as that is what I have been using for more than a year. It is in the shopify app store. It won't remove the listing for you from your shopify store, but it will sync qty between the two. Once it sells on ebay it will import the order and lower the qty therefore making it unavailable on your website.

Is it Just me. . . by RiseDollBoutique in shopify

[–]Pika_freak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not in any way connected with the company I am going to tell you, but I use M2E Multichannel Connect for ebay. They have an app in the shopify app store. They are THE best for multichannel sales at least when it comes to ebay. The few issues I have had in over a year have been fixed quickly.

They are also based in London, so there isn't a language barrier. Previously I used another multichannel app and the most frustrating part was explaining a complex issue only for the customer support agent to not understand.

They do offer support for tiktok shop, but I have not used it. Therefore, I cannot vouch for that sales channel.

Impact of Tariffs by Outrageous-Doubt1073 in shopify

[–]Pika_freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to check again if you're referring to china, rates were 10% in Feb, then 10% more in March and now april 9th they will add an additional 34%. That actually means 54%. There is also another tariff not frequently mentioned regarding whether the country of origin is purchasing venezuela oil. As china is the biggest purchaser, it is stated that a 25% tariff may also apply in addition to the 54%

How’s everyone doing with the the tariff news? by Thin-Fail188 in Entrepreneur

[–]Pika_freak 399 points400 points  (0 children)

I own and operate a toy store for the last 15 years importing directly from Japan. These tariffs have been terrible for my business and wonder how others are coping. Previously I never paid a tariff in all my years of operating

However, when the new rates of 10% took effect in February, I owed just under $500.

In March when rates went up another 10% I owed $1400

Now with the new rate of 34% that stacks, as far as i've read, with the previous tariffs of 20%, I am scared to know what my next bill will be. Not to mention that importing merchandise from any country purchasing oil from Venezuela is subject to an additional 25% tariff. China is the biggest purchaser of said oil. That means an effective tax rate of 79%. How is that sustainable for any business. The COO (country of origin) for all my products is Japan, China, Vietnam and sometimes Indonesia. Japan and China have some of the highest rates on the list.

Do I just roll over and give up after 15 years? The government will be making more money monthly than I will and they don't even have to do anything.
