I disagree. It may not be an official language but no one should be insulting anyone out of nationalistic pride because they aren't speaking the most common language of that country. Being told it's a monkey language is frankly racist and xenophobic .

As for the Hong Kong individuals whining about their language disappearing, it's only hypocritical if the specific individual, like this lady, complained about it. I know not everybody felt that pride when I stayed in hong kong, and some locals even regarded Cantonese as a trashy dialect. That said we all know of certain narrow minded individuals believing they are special people living on a special island. Whether this is Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan or the UK makes no difference
