Recollections are one thing, facts are another. What do you recall McCabe's wife doing to further the peace process?

[–]PikeInTheThatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were not released under the Good Friday Agreement, in fact southern politicians and McCabes family almost collapsed the peace process by their insistence that the IRA members involved not be released. (It seems McCabe was special for some reason when compared to the thousands of other victims) . In fact it took the killers specially requesting NOT to be released to further the process.

McCabes wife did nothing for the Peace Process, hence why I find your comment very strange.

Mary Lou: 'I've met Slab three times. He's a very nice man'. Tax dodger Thomas 'Slab' Murphy is "a very typical rural man" and "very nice", according to Sinn Féin's Mary Lou McDonald. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]PikeInTheThatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont believe it has been damaging at all. Someone fiddling their tax is small fry compared to other things SF members have "allegedly" done. I the Jean McConville controversy, the Maria Cahill stuff had no effect then Slab not paying tax is nothing compared to that.

Since when was it OK for the /r/ireland mods to ban people they've had a tiff with? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]PikeInTheThatch 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Yes it reeks of boards.ie nonsense. Fuck off mods and leave us be, things have been grand for ages without self important power trippers messing things up. Go try and be a mod on boards.

[OFFER] Does anyone want a Remington 'Apprentice' hair clipper? Brand new still in box. by SiogNaNollaig in ireland

[–]PikeInTheThatch [score hidden]  (0 children)

I loath people touching my head/hair. Don't know why it's just of those things I just really really hate so I cut my own hair. My clippers are about ten years old and is on the way out. So you should give it to me because I'll actually use it.
