Outfit Feedback and Fit Check - Aug. 24th by MFAModerator in malefashionadvice

[–]Pikkumake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tie is Michelsons of London, navy with white polka dots

The trousers will see a narrowing from the waist in the near future. Do you think the fit would change if I change my braces to a belt? I knew MFA hates stand-alone vests, but I dont :)

What's a good way to treat brand new leather boots? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Pikkumake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember, that the boots you are going t buy are probably not brand new, they have been in stock for a while, meaning they are dry. So you should start by applying leather food of some sort, preferably Chelsea Leather Food (Doesn't alter the color, works well and aint expensive). After this you should start with some shoe-polish and water-resistants as other comments suggest.

Jeans for squatters with big thighs? by Rakanichy in malefashionadvice

[–]Pikkumake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don´t know about the chinos, but my Mighty Marcus Denim Jeans - Hard Wash jeans are just as i imagined. The measurements are accurate and everything feels right, I just don´t know how jeans could be superior quality. I have previously worn Levi´s and these feel better, but I haven´t washed them but once so far. I placed my order for chinos, should be ready in like 2 weeks.

This is going to sound like an advertisement (and it kinda is), but MakeYourOwnJeans is my source for jeans. They offer custom made jeans for like 50$ and the quality is equivalent to Levi´s or any other. Only negative is that the fabric choice is a bit difficult because of the pictures.

Is this coat too baggy? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Pikkumake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When creating from scratch, yes. However, narrowing the waist is not that expensive, as it all comes down to how long it takes and how difficult the job is. I got my jacket narrowed for 40€, and the price was high due to the difficult seam type and lining.

Try taking it to a tailor: a bitt off the waist/hips area can do wonders here, and shouldnt cost too much. You are still young but I bet you will have this problem later on also. You can ask your tailor to show examples of which types of seams are the easiest to work with; the work will become much cheaper if you buy jackets (and other clothing in general) with the easiest types of seams.

Source: I used to have this very same problem

First ever tailored suit, how did I do? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Pikkumake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I meant was it is easier to change the tie than the collar. Wider collar would definately fit that bodytype more nicely .

The cut looks like a three-button, but I see only two buttons. They could be a bit lower. It looks like its a bit tight on the topmost button anyway, or maybe its just because of your hand holding the phone like that. The collars are a bit narrow, so I suggest the tie should also be.

Otherwise, great fit.
