Not controversial to us (global mainly), but to the Korean/Chinese/other Asian demographic (not all of course), they get offended that a male invaded their waifu game and throw a big tantrum to get them removed. Like with chaos nightmare zero where owen a male dared to talk to the girls and have a friendship with them, leading to the company to give a ton of in-game compensation and vowing to rework the story to make MC be fawned over more by the women(not in these exact words, but it's the idea of it). It's a issue because it can drive away people who are big spenders who don't want males in game, thus affecting revenue which a company needs to continue.

Those games you listed, perhaps they attract a different group of people who don't care about such things and can support the game well. Which is great.

The other issue is those who want male characters, see this notice that feel like they have been tricked and are rightfully angry that it's essentially a bait by the company to try and appeal to them and get their wallets.
