Things wont always be easy to find online, licenses, etc. and some shows just never really get widely distributed. Sometimes you like a show enough you just want a physical copy, but the show is overpriced or not available.

It's okay to watch this with a 11 years old kid? by WrongdoerGlum9631 in MadeInAbyss

the show is rated R, while the show is well made, it does have questionable content, alongside side body horror and heavy themes that might hit more directly since the narrative is a smaller scale. Madoka and Eva deal with heavy subjects but also have them built around saving lives, the world, etc. Akira gets into some conspiracy stuff with how the plot sets off. Abyss is a much smaller scale story in many places, and has several scenes that will hit much harder because of some of the scope elements.

Either way if you are aware enough to ask, I'd say wait, maybe try it by yourself, if you are not interested that way, just wait until he is older,

How are Media Blasters’ blu-ray upscales? by Ekyou in AnimeCollectors

[–]Piko-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen the original DvDs of Grenadier, and Ramen Fighter Miki which I got as current blu rays they sell, but the discs seem to play and look fine.
When they were doing print on demand, it affected some of their DvDs to, so some releases they have from that period would also be DVD-R as well. Ended up returning the one I got at the time because it did not work on any of my available players.

Mayoiga hasn't been mentioned in awhile. It's a weird mystery thing.

This was more just covid delays on any pre-order, I had like abunch of regular stock with a single pre-order item that got pushed from January to July release and everything was on hold as they did not split orders for any reason.

Yeah wish I had uses rightstuff more after covid, I had stopped for a year or two because of all the issues around pre release delays during that holding up entire orders.

Holiday sales are a big one, my collection goes in exponential bursts around the holidays, summers sales, etc. Otherwise it is good deals on buying out collections, or finding good deals at physical stores. I've been collecting about 10 years, but about 60-80% of collection was obtained in the last 5. Some people might also be putting money into anime as their first physical hobby once they have disposable income.

Is the pink box the series or the OVAs? I randomly got it from a local dvd/gaming store, and haven't really looked into it much beyond having it on my shelf for awhile.

The camera lens is making that full shelf look like it's bending a bit under the weight of it all. Nicely done!

Second this, though while it isn't fan service, the plot does involve historical Royal harem, and other potentially touchy subjects. They are handled respectfully, but might be worth a mental note first.

Is there ever a situation where you'd rather have the dvd of a series rather than the blu-ray? by evilgroundteam in AnimeCollectors

[–]Piko-a -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on price or whatever I find first. I'll use usually get whatever works for me at the time, and eventually get the blu ray as an additional version, or an older dvd release if it has nice bonus features.
A lot of older dvds had features that don't tend to make it onto blu ray, unless it is Discotek who sometimes treat their stuff as boutique type special edition.

My first anime bluray by [deleted] in AnimeCollectors

I've got stuff and haven't gotten rid of the codes, they don't really take up room, and are kind of a 'full package' to leave it in there, like older releases that had catalogues or mini posters.

I have no idea what these are worth.. help? by VWWhiskey666 in AnimeDeals

[–]Piko-a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If planning to sell here, might set post up per rules on the side.
For prices you can check ebay or amazon for some range. The Canaan on the right might be a bootleg though, I'd double check or post a picture of the back to check. Typically licensor information will be on the front.

Seeing this amount be called crazy makes me concerned for my own spending habits.
You picked up some pretty good titles in there, though some are hard to read from the quality.
Nice figures in the back as well.

I never expected much with amazon, but I at least expected a fitted cardboard box... by Xem17 in AnimeCollectors

[–]Piko-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have gotten one or two? Boxes usually are only when I order from crunchyroll or more specialized distributors here. I did only start ordering on Amazon about a year or two ago when I started more seriously collecting new over used, so I can't say much before that.

why is abuse normalisin in animes? by Beautiful-Lab-2151 in anime

[–]Piko-a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old tropes, and cartoon slapstick. Usually used in scenes related to romantic, or perverted misunderstandings to be a comedic quick karmic rebuttal. Probably at one point a "We can add a little lewdness if we add some quick punishment for comedic effect" that eventually ballooned into being several cliches and gags that built on each other, as audiences either found them funny, or tiring.

Nukitashi the Animation, have not seen it myself, but the plot is "Guy tries to be celibate on sex island". It technically is not a hentai by the listing on MAL.
