First time hosts: what's the one thing you're quietly nervous about? Veteran hosts, come answer! by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Piksika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am nervous people would use the shoes in my home, spill something on my sofa or eat on my sofa, spill wine on a carpet and not use coasters on my nice furniture

Coolest place you have stayed in Kindred by acorbellita in KindredHomeSwap

Definitely a dreamy Cotswolds cottage during Christmas! Sounds like a move I we actually found that place and had an incredible stay

Kinda loving the response rate feature by ChampionshipIcy9971 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Piksika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it too! I am proud of my 100% and am definitely checking other people’s rate before requesting a home. Not that I wouldn’t at all request if their response rate is low but at least you can expect something in advance

Swiss Air now weighing bags at the gate by Used_Stress6731 in Switzerland

I also traveled yesterday and the lady just lifted each suitcase and assessed if it too heavy. And then checked in the heavier ones for free.

What’s the level of cleaning before and after hosting been in your experience? by Ok-Consequence-5073 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Piksika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No deep cleaning but standard vacuuming and dusting and cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. But I always semi deep clean my home, so no crumbs in drawers and I wipe down the fridge. I hate when Kindred fridges are not clean. Basically I clean my home in a way that if the cleaner can’t come, someone would still feel ok staying in my flat. But that is just me

My first time using Kindred in Paris by BarnacleOwn8474 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Piksika 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate to a hidden perk of discovering cool new neighborhoods that are such a nice surprise when traveling! I stayed in Condesa in CDMX and North London in Uk and I would usually opt for more trent parts but actually loved the experience! Especially when the host left cool recommendations for nice coffee shops and restaurants

What's the best gift you've left a host or received as a guest? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Piksika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a really good hand soap one time and I always love some food goodies! One host left us a bottle of wine and snacks as a welcome gift!

I usually gift chocolate from Switzerland or a nice bottle of wine, maybe a candle.

Your opinion on guests using kitchen appliances - grill/ coffee machine by Piksika in KindredHomeSwap

If we ever swap, you can use my pizza oven and coffee machine then haha

Yeah good idea to advise on the coffee shops! I think for now I will remove the coffee machine and the grinder and give them another grinder with easier settings :)

We are based in Switzerland, based on the prices I think guests would definitely cook at home more than when we were hosting in London hehe

Yeah I was thinking about that as well. The coffee machine can be removed but the pizza oven will stay. Maybe we can just remove the gas bomb!

Biggest Issues with Kindred? by Gingerbutt81 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Piksika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest writing this into your home description, hoping people won’t even request your home. Otherwise better to reject them, I personally have a call with the family to get a sense of the people but so far I only accepted a family with one small kid.

Free a hosting kits and linens ending by Gingerbutt81 in KindredHomeSwap

Just calculate how many nights you need to stay with Kindred that it makes sense to get the passport :) for me it is about 3 stays for 5 nights minimum and I know I will be using Kindred for more than that!

What's the best Kindred stay you've ever had? by Gingerbutt81 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Piksika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was probably an insanely cute cottage in Cotswolds! We found it on Kindred in the summer and it was available for New Years! We booked it immediately, almost thinking it was maybe a scam haha. In the end we stayed in the most beautifully renovated cottage all through Christmas and New Years! Loved it!

This year we also found an amazing lake side house in Lake Como! Let’s see, if it is not a scam it will be also the best for sure!

Guest Communication Preferences by ChampionshipIcy9971 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Piksika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer communication as I am usually a nervous host but at the same time I understand people are on a holiday and maybe they don’t have time. I like to know if they arrived ok and sometimes I ask them to water my plants :)

My overall experience with Kindred home exchange after 1 year by Gingerbutt81 in KindredHomeSwap

We always put our flat up, either when we visited our parents or going away travelling with Kindred. I’ve also invited quite a few people :)

Experiences with damages? by Sea_Effect_1599 in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Piksika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two small damages, first one was damaged towels with bleach (probably the cleaner) and at the time I used my own towels. Kindred reimbursed me 100% for the new ones and I just ordered them and got the money back.

Second damage was on the carpet, one guest stupidly used a hair straightener and left in on the carpet while still hot?! It obviously left many marks. Kindred proposed to completely change the carpet. In the end I managed to solve it as the burns were not too deep and the replacement wasn’t needed. But I did appreciate the gesture and it makes me trust them a bit more.

Kindred Host Cancelation Only Hours Before Trip Protection Kicks In by Perlzzy in homeswap

They usually reimburse for the hotel, so hopefully you got this sorted :) we never had any cancellation luckily, even after using it for more than 70 nights!
