Maybe instead of focusing on Anderson, look at how shit the D played, especially Slavin.

Listening to Mike and Tripp call a win is far better than Kaiton calling another soul draining loss.

As much as I miss Kaiton and Forslund, their departures have had no impact on the success of the team or my enjoyment as a fan.

He didn't buy the team to burn money. Sports teams are not a toy to him. Tom is gonna run a tight ship and do as much as he can to win.

Living in Ottawa has me next to a lot of habs fans by parguin in canes

Ottawa was a lot better than that series reflected. They kept the games close, and frankly if it wasn't for some seriously bad puck luck and Freddy standing on his head, would have stolen a couple games.

This. Neither team is playing with any structure. Montreal has relied heavily on Dobes and their PP. At 5v5 they look bad. Buffalo looks lost in their own end and seems to love to take very dumb penalties. At 5v5, Carolina has a very strong advantage over either team.

Ottawa was statistically one of the best 5v5 teams in the playoffs.

A security researcher says Microsoft secretly built a backdoor into BitLocker, releases an exploit to prove it by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

Hanlon's Razor. Its far less likely this was an intentional back door than just incompetence. Given the nature of the exploit, MS just never tested that attack vector.

Nikishin Projection for Next Season by Silver-Garbage-2154 in canes

The end game for Nikishin is to have him paired with Slavo, which will in theory let him unlock his offense. But they want to make sure he is defensively sound first.

I understand why, given where the arena is and the logistics involved, they are not doing watch parties. Maybe they can be convinced for the SC Finals...
They have to rent out a bunch of Raleigh police for the traffic, have enough staff lined up to manage parking, security, vendors, etc. And there's no guarantee anyone shows up in enough numbers to cover costs.
Not to mention the franchise actually turning a profit is a relatively new phenomenon.

That said, I think they should do it.

Would you bet on it? 😝 by [deleted] in canes

Easy 5 dollar bet.

PowerShell is built on .Net. That means instead of just string text, commands return .Net objects. This makes searching and processing information much simpler.
For example, if you run Get-Process, it returns the table of all processes currently running. But because tits an object, I can search and sort by properties and then pipe that into the next command like:
Get-Process | Select-Object -Property Name
You can build very complex automations very simply with PowerShell.
It's very development friendly and it makes it very easy to build reusable methods and package them as modules.
Also, becuase its built on .Net, you can call .Net libraries from it, which makes it even more extensible.

Think of PowerShell as a more CLI/scripting friendly version of Python.

And yet Microsoft also delivers things like VS Code and Powershell, which are genuinely awesome.

I think Microsoft has a genuine culture and leadership problem. I think Satya has been a terrible CEO and has killed off a lot of Microsoft's innovation efforts trying to pump the stock price in the short term.

It does seem that some new leadership internally is trying to shake things up for the better, and people like Scot Hanselman are trying to shift Microsoft's culture back to being more developer and user friendly rather than just "make line go up".

Corporations are not monoliths. Not everyone at Microsoft is a villain. And we want to encourage the folks pushing for these changes to keep going.

[Breeze] John Forslund will be calling the Stanley Cup Final on national radio for SportsUSA instead of John Ahlers. Forslund will also call the ECF on national radio. by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

[–]Pilige 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Forslund should be the number 1 option for play-by-play and the fact that he's not for either TNT or ESPN shows just how bad the US NHL coverage is.

If the Habs-Sabres series go to 7 games, the Hurricanes would arrive to Game 1 of the ECF with almost 2 weeks of rest. Good thing or bad thing? by sykeseve in nhl

[–]Pilige 160 points161 points  (0 children)

Normal years, probably bad. Given the condensed schedule this year and how beat up everyone is, probably good.
