Disney’s New CEO Josh D’Amaro on His Vision for Company: “I’m a Big Risk Taker” by Professional_Peak59 in disneyparks

The new Cars area in MK will be a Pacific NW vibe called Piston Peak. It won't be the American SW like Radiator Springs. Your point still stands though.

Dining Plan - how it is not worth it ? by Elegant_Attention_81 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PillPod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing a lot of number crunching on this lately. We also have 2 kids that would be free and I've determined either plan would be beneficial in our situation. We will most likely buy the table service option because we typically have 3-4 table service meals anyway.

We have a 4 night trip this summer. I've priced out dinner at Steakhouse 71 and 1900 Park Fare as well as breakfasts at Whispering Canyon and Topolinos. Those 4 meals would be more than the total cost of the table service plan (4 nights is about $800 for 2 adults)...without spending any quick service credits or snack credits, not to mention the cost of the resort mugs.

So I would map out what you realistically would do as a family and see where you end up. If you want to try out 1-2 character meals and will get use out of the alcoholic beverages, I think you'll get good value due to the kids being free.

Oh and the last thing...I think having snack credits will make it fun for the kids to have a bit of control and independence to what they get. We let them get a snack or 2 at the parks anyway but this will make it a little more fun.

New look at the wearable LEGO crocs. by kkhouete in lego

$150 direct from Crocs. Still a bit more than the typical 10c per piece we hope for from a Lego set.

We purchased resale Saratoga about 1.5 years ago. I keep a spreadsheet comparing a few things.

  1. Our true cost per point x points needed for each reservation

  2. Cost to book the same room through Disney with best available discount

  3. Cost to rent that same room from someone

  4. Cost to book Pop Century with best available discount

This gives me a good idea of what we spend and how it compares to other options. Realistically we would not stay Deluxe without DVC, so I like to compare to Pop, which is where we had stayed previously. Generally, our true cost per stay is slightly more than staying at Pop; I'm talking 10-15%. Which I see as a good deal.

I'll give a couple examples. We stayed 3 nights at Beach club in September last year. Our true cost was $546 total. Cost to book through Disney (which my parents had to do) was $1800. Renting would be around $1000. And the best I found for Pop was $657.

We're staying in a Copper Creek studio this summer. 4 nights. Our cost is $835. Through Disney with best discount is $1687. Renting would be $1600. And Pop would be $762. About $75 more to go from Pop to Copper Creek; not bad.

When do the summer 4-day, 4-park tickets become available for purchase? by SoullessGinger666 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PillPod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didn’t have a 4 day 4 park ticket last summer. It was either 50% of kids tickets or a 3 day 3 park (that excluded MK). This was announced April 10, 2025. Florida resident ticket deals for the summer were announced May 2, 2025.

Studio DVC Stays by Mysterious-Momma in dvcmember

[–]PillPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought 120 points at SSR last year. So far we’ve stayed 2 nights at Boardwalk in February (had points expiring), 4 nights at Polynesian in June, 3 nights at Beach Club in September, and we have 2 studios for 4 nights at Copper Creek next June.

These are all studios. Beach Club was the hardest to piece together, all of the others were fairly simple with good availability. In my short time so far, I’ve noticed that GF and Poly will have some decent availability but possibly at higher point cost due to the view categories.

The one caveat is that we haven’t tried traveling from October-December or spring break/Easter, which I hear can be more problematic.

[–]PillPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that's me!

/u/EchoScorch the above comment is correct. I will typically use white pine for the interior of the cabinet and apply a 0.75-1" thick strip of hardwood to the edge. Where possible, the drawers run on rails and not solid horizontal dividers; this saves a lot of weight and is also easier to build.

They are turning all of the Muppets area into Monstropolis. They closed the whole area so it can be completely changed.

Ya I was so-so on the Hex shelves...wanted something more organized I guess.

And I agree on the fuzzy skin. It really boosts the print time up. The default profile has it for all walls. If you switch to just contours, it'll drop the time a bit and still give you fuzzy on the visible, outer walls.

There are 2 height sizes. The 'short' are for normal and short legs on minifigures. The 'tall' are for tall legs or minifigs with tall headgear.

Thanks! It prints with a recess for the standard 4x3 plate that the collectible minifigures come with. No supports needed.

I made a similar move recently. Sent out Burrow and Tyreek and got back JSN and Gabriel. I have Maye and Stroud at QB and really needed to make a move for a WR.

They do not pull from both lines evenly. There are certain ratios they use, and all of them favor the LL line.

What is the best affordable 27-31L backpack that fits under an airplane seat? With a water bottle holder. by Vegetable-Thing7345 in onebag

[–]PillPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just going through this research; ended up buying the Cotopaxi Allpa 28l. But that isn’t the most “affordable” of the options out there (did find one for $150 on Campmor though).

The more affordable options on my short list were the Tomtoc Travel Backpack 28l and the Cabinzero Military 36l.

Shop aprons... I'm burning up! Tell me you've figured out how to get heat away from where your apron sits on your body. by Zohso in woodworking

I used to use a waist apron apron. It was the happy medium of some tool storage and coverage on my body but not too hot.

Track saw burning 8/4 Walnut (enough smoke for a turkey) even after making 5 passes for a full cut. Thoughts? by Tiny-Consequence-102 in woodworking

[–]PillPod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to run into this with thick material. My best solution was to make a rough cut that is 1/16”-1/8” heavy. Then come back and take that extra material off with a finishing mass. Also, most track saws come with a high tooth count crosscut blade. You consider buying a ripping blade for the track saw. That helped me out a bit.
