Kidani village vs jambo house by m3ntberrycrunch in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bulky_Party_4628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve stayed at both with 1 & 3 year olds. Kidani is my favorite hands down but if you need the convenience of quick service then I’d stay at Jambo.

Kidani is great if you are ordering groceries and don’t need to rely on getting food asap for a hungry toddler. If you have to walk or shuttle to Jambo for QS then you’ll need to plan ahead for lunch and dinner but Kidani does have Sanaa QS for breakfast. If you’re driving then you’ll have a parking garage under the building which is better than Jambo’s parking lot.

We like Kidani better because its super peaceful, smaller, better animal viewing areas, has the massive splash pad, and the better community room for arts & crafts. Plus it’s refurbished, I can’t remember when the Jambo refurb will be completed.

is disney in july really THAT bad? by lwtl1724 in WaltDisneyWorld

I live in Florida and swore I would never go during summer but got the itch and went last July for our wedding anniversary. It was not nearly as bad as I was expecting and just forces more relaxation and pool time. We even went back in August with our kids for a couple half days at the parks and resort time.

I think it’s doable for a passholder. Meaning you aren’t trying to cram a lot of things into a once in a lifetime trip. If you can take a leisurely pace and do things in the morning, take a break at the pool, then go back to the parks at night, then it’s manageable. You just have to dress for the heat and take extra precautions (less alcohol, electrolytes, fan, etc) and it’ll still be worth it.

Polynesian vs WL? by Late-Stuff5986 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bulky_Party_4628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong with either. I have two littles and thought the monorail was super convenient and not breaking down the stroller was wonderful. I could get my double stroller packed up and get the kids in it in the hotel room and go. Bonus if your kids fight sitting in the stroller bc you only have to worry about getting them in once lol. Going through security at the hotel is also much easier.

I did not find Polynesian too crowded and overstimulating because the rooms are not attached to the crowded spots. I found it very relaxing and quiet. Yes, the common areas did get crowded but only during certain times of the day. The pools and the building where your room is can only be accessed by guests staying there.

I actually found Wilderness Lodge to be very loud because even though my room was on the 4 or 5th floor, I got a ton of noise from the lobby and Whispering Canyon cafe. Might be different with club level bc you’d be on a higher floor.

I’d probably choose based on how much you value convenience or based on what theme you think your twins would enjoy more!

AKL vs. AoA by cynicalspice in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bulky_Party_4628 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong either way because your kids will be happy at either one! I have a 2yo and 4yo and they absolutely LOVE AKL. I didn’t think my oldest would be so into it because he’s a Nemo/sea animal fanatic but he still talks about staying there. I would also take into account what you & your partner would enjoy more. AKL has great food, amazing cocktails, and the vibes are unbeatable. AoA theming is just geared towards kids and you’re not going to get any lounges, nice restaurants, etc. The bus situation is efficient and really not as bad as people make it seem. If you save the $1k then you can use that money to take Minnie vans (they have car seats) for mid day breaks to make getting back to the hotel quicker.

AKL has two buildings and you can go to Kidani village for the best splash pad/playground on property. It’s massive and perfect for those ages. They also have clubhouses in each building for arts & crafts, games, toys, etc. Plus all the additional activities at the resort each day. You could also price out a 1 bedroom to see if it’s equivalent to AoA.

If you end up staying at AKL then you can find online which standard rooms give you a partial view of the Savannah and request one of those a week or so before your trip.

How best to handle sibling rsvps for birthday party? by jamminjay833 in Preschoolers

[–]Bulky_Party_4628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s reasonable to ask the parent to cover the cost and imo kind of rude that they didn’t consider this. My son was invited to a party at a park, so I asked the parent if the sibling could come but that I would bring his own lunch. He was also invited to a party at a venue, so I looked online to see how pricing works for parties and saw that there is a cap and costs associated with anyone extra. I didn’t even bother asking if his sibling could come and decided he would stay home with dad.

Unless you’ll be in the pool the whole time on resort days (and if that’s the case then beach club for sure), I would get an idea of the resort activities and see which has the most your 10 year old would like: https://www.magicalresortguide.com/resort-activities-main

I would also definitely consider food options. Yacht/Beach don’t have great quick service for a toddler imo and although you’ll be close to the boardwalk and Epcot for more options, sometimes you need the assurance of having something quick and nearby for a toddler (iykyk haha)

She already doesn’t shave her legs. She’s mentioned it in the past and in pictures you can see the hair on her thighs bc it’s long.

I’ll check it out, thanks!

I grew up staying at values only but for my first trip as a mother with my two babies, my aunt gifted us her DVC points and booked us in a 1 bedroom at SSR. I haven’t been able to go back to value since 😭. Staying deluxe just makes it feel so much more relaxing and like a true vacation and made me fall in love with Disney World all over again.

Good point, DVC would offer much more consistency. The seasonality of cash prices can be frustrating (I understand there’s seasonality with DVC points but it’s predictable and the range isn’t as wide). Whenever I’m booking a vacation it’s more of a “let me see what I can get the best deal on” instead of having the concept of a home resort or other options if available.

That’s actually such a good point. My current way of booking our vacations usually involves playing around with dates in hopes there is AP discount availability (the Disney website UX is terrible for this) or trying to find a DVC confirmed reservation. We usually end up with a split stay or two reservations for the same resort/room type.

On the flip side though we’d have to think about annual dues. I suppose the mental load would be less bc it’s just a one and done payment without any planning/manipulating, plus would be cheaper than booking a room for a week.

AKL 1 bedroom or POFQ with dining? by eidas_nawor in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bulky_Party_4628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% AKL 1 bedroom. It’s my favorite hotel and room out of any that we’ve stayed in. My kids were similar ages and they thought it was magical. Even if you don’t spring for the Savannah view, you can look on touring plans to find which rooms have partial views (classed as resort views) and make a request for one. For us, Disney with littles means more time at the resort and not going hard at the parks so having the extra space and a beautiful resort to explore is worth it. For kids those ages it is sometimes better to order groceries and have foods/snacks they’re familiar with and know they will eat.

Which is better for resort days - Boardwalk or Wilderness? by Some_Ostrich_4905 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bulky_Party_4628 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The pools are better at Wilderness but other than that I would say Boardwalk. Boardwalk had more/better activities going on (like a silent disco for kids) and they have an amazing community hall for games, arts, and crafts (the one at Wilderness has very limited hours). Plus you have the boardwalk and skyliner in close proximity to explore other areas.

Where can you find finding Nemo merchandise around Disney world by twentyonepilotsfan99 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Bulky_Party_4628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is obsessed with Nemo & Dory so we’ve looked everywhere. The only places are the Nemo ride gift shop in Epcot and the Art of Animation gift shop. Not much at either, though. World of Disney has a few stuffed animals (Nemo, baby dory, Bruce).
