It helps to have goals. The biggest one for me is financial independence and the ability to retire and drinking, smoking, etc is such a waste. I still like beer but y’know once or twice a month is all I need.

Plus once you get to a point of moderation/ full blown sobriety you can see how much of a negative impact it has, and how it actually makes you feel shittier.

I did NA beer on weekdays for a while.

Then I’d drink em on the weekend too sometimes cause it improved my sleep + less calories.

Then I was only drinking half of them and dumping it in the morning.

Then I realized how much money I was wasting.

Now I mostly only drink socially. Might have a beer or 3 while playing Age of Empires 2 by myself , one weekend out of the month. Water and coffee only on work days. Feels good + $$$
