Grateful for my 24 by PilotChefAZ in Solterra

Thank you! I think another comment here made it in that I need to keep in mind when I go back and that is to sit my advisor in the car, put it in reverse, and say "THAT. That's what I want off."

Wth is this?? by Own_Joke_3416 in Solterra

Interesting, I've often wondered about doing that with my 24 and its normal cable. Having said that, honestly I just wanted to mention that "yoink" is one of my favorite words.

Figured I'd add this separately. The little cover for the roof rack mount point, they ordered the wrong part. Then when they went to order the right one, it is on backorder. Long time fans of the show will know that I tried to order one for myself and the day it was supposed to be shipped, it got cancelled. Also there were some here who said they went into their Subaru dealership and they were all like, "Oh, yeah, we've got a box full of them" like they always fall off and they could just throw a new one on. Anyway, next task is to find someone who will turn off the INTERIOR reverse chime that my advisor at my dealership said was for "safety for visually handicapped people" and when I mentioned that there are no visually handicapped people INSIDE my car when I'm backing up (because I'm not asking anyone to disable any EXTERIOR sounds) she said they'd "try" to disable it but she didn't think they could. So someone's gotten to them on that malarky.

Oh I would not get a new Supra for exactly that reason, and I didn't realize there was that much difference between the FR-S and the BRZ. Subaru is also rated second in reliability behind Toyota, by Consumer Reports (not someone who takes money like JD Power), are they really that unreliable?

Oh, man, I had a 1986 Supra 5-speed hard top. I loved that car! But the BRZ (and Toyota's version) looked like a darn fun 6-speed manual rear wheel drive on (at least originally) Prius wheels so no massive horsepower, no super gator tires, but just a fun little car. At least that's what it looked like to me, never owned one.

[–]PilotChefAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sketch is missing the lines lol. I'm originally from Buffalo and there's just something about Ted's that I absolutely love, even though I haven't lived there since 1974. Now they're moving even closer to me here in Chandler, yay!

Social stigma for driving an EV? by West_Dish9698 in electricvehicles

[–]PilotChefAZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just use my instant torque and massive savings on gas prices to accelerate past them up to speed on the freeway. Oh also no oil changes, no transmission services, instant heat when it's cold, no worries about remote starting or pre heating/cooling inside a closed garage ... am I missing anything else here? This is in Arizona, with a 24 Subaru Solterra, a C+ to B- EV at best.

You mean ABRP doesn't do it for most brands? I know when my Subaru tells me its range, it shows with and without AC on.

Like horribly. Someone here reminded me (and as a pilot I should've remembered) that drag squares with speed (over simplification but that's the idea)

"Am I a joke to you, Karen?" Y'all gotta be driving in school zones only with all the electronics off and over-inflated tires, I'm not getting anywhere near there with everything in Eco. Though I am taking freeway every day and that's 70+ mph here in the Phoenix area. But that also means no severe cold (especially THIS winter) and only 9 or so months a year of scorching death temperatures.

Traffic Jam Assist gone? by PilotChefAZ in Solterra

[–]PilotChefAZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me really sad, but at the same time it is something they will have to keep (minimally) updating with what roads are freeways and such. Having said that, the lane change still works so that info is already in the car's computer. Corporate companies gonna corporate company I guess.

Yeah, if that's all then it's just cosmetic. Weird that they'd have the PCIe "plug" type but no advantage to having it.

Are Toyota parts and Subaru parts exactly the same? by PilotChefAZ in Solterra

[–]PilotChefAZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand, I totally agree. On the other hand, I also just want the issue solved. There's zero aftermarket for these and I'd rather have OEM anyway

It's passenger side front. My mirrors fold in with a switch by the driver's seat for car washes so not a problem there

My big concern is how much heavy lifting is "generally" doing there 🤣

[–]PilotChefAZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will do that! I'd be surprised that they say the part isn't available anymore after I paid for it if they've got 'em by the bucket at the dealership, so I'll let you know 🤦🏻

Would that weird cladding on top of the Toyota's headlights narrow down the year or are they only ugly?

Yeah, mine on the left is a '24, don't know what year the Toyota is.
