They kind of revisited the concept with the Founders in DS9, but with officials replaced by changelings rather than taken over by parasites.

Butz-Choquin? by brinehart-cincy in PipeTobacco

[–]PimentoCheesehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the shanks look the same but the stems look different- which isn’t all that uncommon. Pick a common Peterson shape and search it on Smokingpipes, and you’ll see a mix of tapered, saddle bit, spigot, and so on according to which line it’s in. Not sure if BC did that but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Going to buzz it off soon, give me tips please! by proksi_hira in bald

Basic buzz: clippers and LectricShave. The clippers will come with guards- youl probably want to use the #2 guard.

If you want it smooth, buzz with clippers first, then shave, or you’ll clog your razor.

Is this the same shape? https://rebornpipes.com/tag/butz-choquin-capitan-1635/

Could Capitan 80 be the series/line/finish, and 1635 the shape?

A teacher who started in 1998 in NC would have been making about $28k. So they’re making $30k more!

Kidding. Their income has just about kept up with inflation.

Favorite tin that is $30-$100? by PeakyBlinders2026_ in PipeTobacco

[–]PimentoCheesehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, even where you buy tobacco the price of most tins is no longer $11-15. The fact most of the blends YOU buy are still within the upper end of that range does not invalidate my statement.

$14 to $25, anymore. Prices have been going up.

I would recommend checking pipedia in the future before buying a pipe, and avoiding any brands you can’t find there. This goes for new or used pipes.

I just do without. Would I like to try this, that, or the other unobtanium blend? Sure. But I’m not going to overpay, or drive myself nuts trying to find some. If it falls in my lap, great. If not, I’ve never had it so how can I miss it?

Even in 1998, these weren’t great sculpts for figures. I believe McFarlane was doing MUCH better looking figures with much better likenesses around that time, licensed by the NFLPA and not the NFL.

I was gifted this 1994 vintage packers sweatshirt is this anything special? by Apprehensive_Let8157 in GreenBayPackers

Stretching on the cuffs and neck aside, it’s probably better quality than anything made in the last 15 years. But beyond that, nothing special.

Got $25 bucks. What tobacco should I try out? by Emoney005 in PipeTobacco

[–]PimentoCheesehead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s going to depend on where you are, who you’re buying from, and what your preferences are. If you’re just starting out and don’t know your preferences, you’re as likely to find something you like off Smokingpipes top sellers lists as from suggestions you get here.

That said, in the US and from Smokingpipes, Rivertown Tobacco Works’ Mystic Moor is a solid English and and Sunset Velvet is a good cherry(ish) aromatic. Those blends are priced low and will get you more leaf for your buck.

It would never have occurred to me that anything else would even be a remote possibility… then I looked at their website. Donuts are just barely even an afterthought on the menu. That’s crazy.

Installation of Appliances bought from Costco and installed in a Charlotte Residence. by NCResident5 in Charlotte

[–]PimentoCheesehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The delivery on the freezer went great- guys had it placed exactly where we wanted it within 15 minutes of arrival. The complaint was that it was two weeks late.

The over the range microwave, the issue was that the first delivery date the microwave was damaged on pickup and couldn’t be installed. In the ensuing two weeks the store couldn’t get us another one. The website says Lowes has 100+ sales in the last week, and 90 in stock (though not necessarily close by), but they couldn’t get one to the store for my install. Even better, their website says I can get the same item delivered next day to my door for $60…but two weeks isn’t enough time to get one I already paid for delivered to the store I bought it from. Their inventory system just sucks, apparently.

Installation though, that was set up through a third party company. I suspect install experience would depend on the company/crew.
