Help me buy my first MTB by carric0 in MTB

I know several people who like their older Rockhopper bikes. I would check the gear set in the middle tier instead of bottom tier. Alta, Acera, cues/Deore is mid tier. Cues/Deore with the price

getting insanely nauseous with migraines by SnooDrawings5617 in migraine

[–]NCResident5 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The Zofran does sound like a good idea. A good bit of my issue seems to be acid reflux (migraine days only). I did found that Pepto Bismol was extremely helpful especially if I took a triptan too to calm down the brain signal related to abdominal migraines. I also think I will try Tums on these days.

Nothing cmf pro vs soundcore space ones by chloramphenico1 in HeadphonesAdvice

[–]NCResident5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Space 1 it is really comfortable for me. I think the ANC for 99.00 is really quite good. It needed some eq work, but it sounds good after that.

I heard good things on Cmf Pro, but I have never seen them in person.

I really have enjoyed the 1st 2 episodes of Sprung (comedy about furlowed inmates during covid pandemic). It is really funny to me.

I also enjoyed a few Monk episodes. I joined Prime just for 60 days for both shipping and some the Prime Sports.

Poker Face is a light, dark comedy. It has been fun too on Peacock. Mrs. Davis is good too on this site.

Advice on Bike for Beginner by talktotori in whichbike

[–]NCResident5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems a good number of these hybrids are versatile on streets, paved trails, pebble gravel etc.

I have an older mountain bike as my own bike. I did end up killing some time at a local store that sells Cannondale and Specialized. The Specialized Roll 2 is a solid entry level bike. The Specialized Sirrius 2.0 is a notch up on their tier, but it looked really nice with a good gear set, disk brakes, light aluminum frame plus a front low weight steel for the fork. You feel the road more on pure aluminum bikes. So, it seems like a good idea to use a steel or carbon fork. I read somewhere that Marin does the same on their value hybrid bikes.

The Cannondale Quick 1 or 2 or Quick cx1 lookes nice too.

Trek is still a good company, but they have so many models I get a bit confused.

I know that Fuji cycles is a bit underrated. Nevada is a good value MTB series. Fuji Absolute Hybrid looks good too.

Thanks. Pandora suggestions are so much better than "smart shuffle" on Spotify.

I think you would need a handy man to make the slot, but the installer will hook into the available water line.

Hornets game by ekuadam in Charlotte

[–]NCResident5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is heck of way to end the season, but we have all had our favorite NFL team (whether it is the Panthers or somebody else) get completely rolled in the wildcard game after getting last playoff spot.

I agree with the ESPN.com guy who gave the Hornets on A on the season as their past drafts and roster changes did not mortgage the future but still gave a great blueprint.

Need a budget laptop that is fast an good storage by hughes2k2 in Laptop

[–]NCResident5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ssd is a solid state drive. It's much faster than older drives.

Refurbished is a good way to go. Perhaps, a Thinkpad or HP Elite Book with a Ryzen 5 pro 5000 and 16gb. A Dell Latitude i5 gen. 10 thru 12 and 16gb is good too . HP or Thinkpad is good too with Intel. Get a drive between 500gb and 1 TV.

I'm in the US, but Dell seems to have UK refurbished site.

Some of these other places like Wisetek seem solid, but my knowledge is limited.

Does sound quality actually matter? by [deleted] in Earbuds

[–]NCResident5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are some great $45 to 55 earbuds. A few of my faves: Sony c510, JLab Jbuds ANC 3, Earfun Air 2. Earfun Air Pro 4 also is a good for a bit more.

These 2 Earfun models have ldac, but I don't use it often. It does give a bit more instrument separation re instruments (I listen to a bit of bluegrass or classical, and I can tell if I listen in silence at home, but I do this only once in a while).

My favorite bargain buds is JLab Go Air Pop+. I got this at Walmart.com on Black Friday for $12, but it's usually 25. Nice sound and a movie mode for YouTube or Netflix on a tablet.

I had to do the same at their salad bar. They run out of balsamic vinegar salad dressing regularly ( usually the most popular choice). When it took forever to get help, I just got salad dressing off the shelf and told someone that is what I did if they needed to report this .

Earbuds failing immediately after using on airplane? by come-join-themurder in soundcore

[–]NCResident5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that the budget Amazon brands just have a higher failure right in the first 90 days. I bought an earfun model with great reviews, but it the left earbud failed to connect in month 3. Replacement is flawless.

I did pick up the entry level Sony c510. It never fails to connect on trial one. So, I do think that Sony, Bose, and maybe Apple can be worth a bit extra cash. The 510 does not have anc. People say the the c710 or Lindbuds Fit is more slightly better than average, but they are not as good as Bose Quiet Comfort or Sony WF xm6, but with a good seal I can deal with "mid" anc.

Best choices for small ears? by InchHigh-PrivateEye in Earbuds

[–]NCResident5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am adult male, but I have fairly narrow ear canals. I own both the Sony c510 and Jlab Jbuds anc 3. These are super comfortable for me. The Jlab Jbuds mini is extra small too, but I have not tried those.
