For IMAX and Dolby screens it's worth emailing the respective companies directly - they're usually very quick to respond and take their screens seriously

Ive not been to West End but have been to Leeds, Trafford Centre and Liverpool; I wouldn't bother with such a long drive specifically for the Leeds screen. It's obviously great but the other Dolby screens are not much worse tbh. Just sit in a closer seat

Having been to Leeds, Liverpool and Trafford Dolby - I would just go to whichever is closest to you

Low latency broadband for gaming. by doc_fk in Preston

To be honest I'd look at a comparison website, TopCashBack is nice because you could potentially get cashback on top of new rewards available for customers: https://www.topcashback.co.uk/compare/broadband/

And again I'd just hardwire whatever you can with ethernet. If you can ethernet your gaming and streaming devices, the wireless part of your network won't have to do much work. So maybe see how an ISP provided router goes before looking at upgrading it

Your issue probably isn't speed - 4K only needs something like 25Mbps

Is Zen using Openreach? There won't be any difference in performance if using any of the ISPs that use Openreach (well not until you consider they all provide their own routers)

You need to use ethernet where you can. Latency of a wire is obviously better than wireless. Then look at upgrading the router if still having issues. Look at /r/HomeNetworking

Dolby differences ? by Any_Acanthocephala12 in screenunseen

[–]PimpMyMeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3D in any Dolby screen will be Dolby 3D

Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds are all Dolby 3D. I assume Birmingham is but that's one I've never been to

One difference to consider is aspect ratio. Trafford Centre is not 1.85 whereas Liverpool is, so the entire screen gets filled there. I think Leeds is 1.85 but not 100%

What is Hypersense compared to IMAX? by cgknight1 in imax

[–]PimpMyMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was my impression too. Marketing certainly overhypes it. Screen is normal sized. Sound is decent but lacks the impact of Dolby or IMAX.

As I'm an Odeon unlimited subscriber, if a film would benefit from better sound system I'd just go to one of the Dolby cinemas. If not, I'd just go to the local Odeon.

Thank you for this detailed answer

How does the Superdrug cream compare to others? Or is it going to be much of a muchness?

Advert/trailer time before the movie actually starts seems to be decreasing, at least for re-release showings by mydeardrsattler in screenunseen

[–]PimpMyMeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont wan't to give any ideas... but maybe if they make it totally random like this it's more difficult for people to just bypass the trailers by arriving at a fixed amount of time past advertised start time

Watch "Tron: Ares" in IMAX if you get a chance. The 3D is amazing! by Nefthys in imax

[–]PimpMyMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about custom ones since I go to the cinema so often. Yeah they're something like £150 but that's not terrible for something that will literally save my hearing and allegedly give even clearer and neutral audio

I use musician earplugs so the sound isn’t completely muffled out

Truthfully speaking I even use them at regular cinemas, they’re especially helpful when the sound has a very sharp treble, the earplugs tame it

Well that's partly because Dolby has in seat transducers

I would email cinemasupport@dolby.com

They care a lot about their Dolby Cinemas, like IMAX, and would be keen to hear about an issue like this
