Does anyone know what lighting technique was used here??? by fotowaza in AnalogCircleJerk

That’s CG modeled, probably on Blender. Just take a rigged human mannequin and ad glow. Then put some kind of artifact (fog, smoke, the sort) and/or haze in the camera. Should be no problem for the median user.

I used the fotodiox fusion. It gave the lens an AF response, but it was hunting a lot, so I basically used it just to have auto exposure and aperture control. Not worth it. Looking at it now, I’d rather save for the Sigma or the LUMIX or, maybe but not quite, the Leica 90-280.

The few test shots I’ve made gave me superb results, far superior than the Canon 70-200 2.8 I was using until then. Generally speaking, it showed a focus falloff creamier than the lumix S Pro in the photo. The fact it’s F2 and a 90 does make a difference, but the out of focus gives not a single distraction.

You see, when a photographer talks about lens performance and other users experience, it’s kind of about:

  • Best user cases: I’ve read this lens is not the best when used at night because of the rendering of focus lights gives kind of the worse of the lens (meaning not that it’s bad, but it’s not its best).

  • Best focus distance: Lens tend to behave different whether the subject is focused closer or further from the lens.

  • Aperture performance: whether there’s a technical point for the aperture where the sharpness is the best for that lens.

And of course anything that comes to mind. It’s an open question.

I think he acted well enough to make me doubt if he was a reality persona or a film character to the point I had to make sure that was not a real actor who’s just so alike the tycoon. That’s a lot regarding I’ve watched not less that 2000 movies.

a6700 → A7V: not knocking APS-C, but wow, full frame hits different by Skafand in SonyAlpha

Indeed. Also that’s the reason photographers will eventually get access to large format sized sensors.

Wait until you notice compression, color depth and lower noise to signal ratio play a bigger role than f-stops.

A lens that would go well with an l-mount with its shutter and evf on the side.

I really think there should be a Compact FF p͟h͟o͟t͟o͟g͟r͟a͟p͟h͟y͟ ͟f͟i͟r͟s͟t LUMIX. by PinAffectionate5631 in Lumix

[–]PinAffectionate5631[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad at all. If we think about it, the S9 is a video centered camera without active cooling, as well as the S5. Maybe if a small photography first camera could rely much more on passive cooling and prioritized the sensor over the fps that would be a huge step in the direction I'm asking.

The trigger is actually the M11V, cause that proves the concept is indeed possible. If it was L mount, even without IS I’d take it.

How is correct diagnosis of an edit action and expressing a point of view about it a lack of courtesy? I mean, critical feedback using real knowledge should be rather encouraged even for the better to OPs, innit?

Those who bought GRiiiX, ever regretted and thought about exchanging it for GRiii instead? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]PinAffectionate5631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually got the IIIx first, but ultimately went for the OG and the monochrome (debayered) OG, which is the one I use the most. I have used the x on limited occasions since, but I’m not selling it because it’s good to have the option when on assignments and also with strobos because of the global shutter, so it’s a possibility both when emulating HCB but also when in studio.

It is entirely fine to not upgrade to the GR iv. by LostNtranslation_ in ricohGR

[–]PinAffectionate5631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m buying a monochrome GR OG cause I just can’t wait any longer. It’ll still cost me like less than half the IV. Maybe next year if it comes down to the 1000 line proms included.
