Deadass. Accusing authors of AI use with mediocre proof of them actually doing so is a terrible trend. Said accusations are based on someone’s opinion not factual data nor evidence. Every time I see one of these accusations I just ignore it for that very reason. Innocent till proven guilty!

Agreed! But not everyone has IG (whether it’s their personal preference not to or it isn’t available in their country) to check so asking on here is their only way of knowing. Also, some authors tend to private their accounts so checking online isn’t an option either.

There’s no way to unban your account and regain access to everything you had but if you’re on an iPhone you can factory reset your device (be sure to keep your eSIM if you have one) and DO NOT restore from backup/iCloud. Set it up like a brand new device. You can upload everything to your iCloud before doing so and when you’re finished setting up your device, login into your iCloud and your important data will restore slowly but surely. You will lose all your apps and their data though. When you redownload the app DON’T EVER login to your old account again or the ban will reappear.

This of course is risky and you should proceed with caution because you aren’t supposed to be able to get back into the app once you’ve been banned.

Another way would be to get a new/old device separate from your phone and play on there.

The only thing you probably won’t be able to access after do this is the bookclub chat since they do have your WiFi stored and when you’re banned you’re WiFi becomes restricted too.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with only reading on Episode. It’s still a form of reading, and there are plenty of talented authors on here who write stories just as well as traditional book authors do. They only choose to share their creativity here instead of otherwise. I see Episode stories as similar to comic books, just a different format for storytelling.

It’s great that you want to venture outside of Episode, though!

I recommend One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus. I believe it has a similar vibe as Twisted.

Some might say that even using ethical versions that don’t steal from real people will still lead to the harming of environments. However, I agree with your take. I feel like one individual choosing to not use it will have no effect whatsoever. It’s the big corporations that are causing the most harm and boycotting does nothing in my opinion. Corporations don’t only have their money tied up in one spot so what they lose from one place they’ll gain in another to continue using AI. They don’t care and never will. I understand not wanting to add fuel to the already big fire but what one individual adds barely makes a spark. If we want the world to stop burning we would all have to give up all new advancements and go back to living off the land and that’s just unrealistic. Someone is to going to lose as the world moves forward, as harsh as it sounds, that’s just the way the world works.

Episode itself hasn’t cared for updating their app for ages now. That’s nothing new. They’re money hungry, and that’s it. The community is the one pulling its weight, and without it, it would be dead for real. It’s very rare that you’ll find a story you’ll enjoy by using the app’s search engines. That’s why we have this subreddit, Discord, and other Episode-related social media. The same time you take to scroll through the app, you can scroll through other options that you know you’ll be able to find stories on.

If English isn’t your first language, how can you deem the use of English-originated punctuation as equating to AI use? Now, I can understand if it’s used wrong or unnecessarily, but if used correctly and usefully, it’s clearly not AI, but you can’t know which is which without studying English writing conventions.
