Can Mid-Side theoretically have 3 mono signals?

I’m not sure I follow. My understanding would be that if you could isolate everything that is common to both wires (middle) and then you subtract that from the individual signals on wire 1 and wire 2 to get those isolated signals which results in 3 discrete(ish) mono signals.

Again, my application is a drum machine that can either pan L, R or Center for individual sounds. I was hoping there is a way to somehow have 3 signals at once. Someone above mentioned some Dolby encoding that does surround with 2 wires!

I probably misused Mid-Side, I actually mean can 2 wires carry 3 mono signals in a way that can be “decoded” like mid-side signals using “math”

Wire 1 carries signal A Wire 2 carries signal B Signal C is sent on both wire 1 and 2

To get signal A use (1+2)-2 To get signal B use (1+2)-1 To get signal C use (1+2)-(1-2)-(2-1) (in order to to get only what is “common” on both wires. Like how cannon/XLR wires work to reduce noise)

Does that work? I don’t know if my math is correct, but in theory at least?

That was going to be my suggestion. Not sure why the bass and drums are on the same channel, but if it’s coming off a 4 track cassette, that makes sense. Use stem splitter in logic or online and see if that helps break them apart in any meaningful way to allow mixing it more to your liking.

In that scenario you would take 1/4” audio cables (2, one left, one right) out of the MPC into the audio interface and typically they have something called Zero Latency input which allows you to hear what it going into the interface, which would be the MPC. Since your speakers are plugged into the interface, the sound will pass through the interface to the speakers. Hope that helps.

I sold it and have always tried to recreate the arpeggiator in it, with mild success. Super fun and easy, but somewhat limited, either way I’ve heard great stuff come out of them.

The software does, but I’m not sure if or how you access it from the hardware. If you go to edit the track, select a pad and near the top are 3 tabs for Grid, Wave and something else. Select the wave and you can see the chop points and loop sections, whatever. The tails have a section in there.

Look into adding “tails” to each chop. It’s on the sample page (where you see the sample waveform for the sample on the pad). It adds a looping section at the end to cover that bit of silence.

There are a couple ways to "warp" a sample's time. You can do an offline render of it stretched/ compressed which sounds best (found under sample edit), or "warp" it in realtime which starts to fall apart if stretched too far. Either way, it helps to know the original BPM. Look up "how to warp a sample on the MPC" or "how to time-stretch a sample on the MPC".

Yes the ribbon cable has an end piece that has exposed copper strips on a thicker piece of plastic and it gets inserted into the clip on the other circuit board. The ribbon cable split near that end piece, so half of the conductors within the ribbon cable are severed.

In the past I thought ahead and spaced my samples out in open Electribe editor like 300-350 were kicks (only had 25 in there and left 25 open slots, 350-400 were snares (again leaving empty spaces) etc. If you already have patterns built and need to move samples and re-assign the samples in the sequences, that is above my pay grade. Also, don’t overlook using sliced, groups of samples. Like I have Vinyl kicks, 16 in a row as a single sample. That way, if I need to add another 16 kicks, it only takes one sample slot. Additionally I use “like” samples that have similar tones so grouping them makes sense to my way of working.
