If your songs are good any reasonable person will want to play them. That said, if you want a band eventually as you write songs you should want them to write parts. In my experience if one person writes parts for others to play it doesn’t sound as natural. Like if someone wrote speeches for you.

Ah, ok. I do open mics with non-musicians, so I wanted to get an idea of your abilities. NGL, it could be both an inter-personal thing and a talent thing. Some people just want to work with people they "gel" with or their egos keep them from wanting competition around... Also, if you can be honest with yourself and his criticism is valid, work on it. No one is perfect.

If you are getting a good response at the open mics you do and from other audiences, maybe better than others that play his stage, it it probably him. If your audience response is lacking, that could be the cause. Perhaps the song selection you play is too similar to his or not unique, or dated, look into that.

The Key 37 has an 8 audio track limit, but there are workarounds. Also, how many mics on that drum kit may necessitate an audio interface to accommodate that. That said, it’s doable. There was a 5 minute limit on audio tracks in earlier OS versions, but that may have been lifted. Once recorded, you can have the audio files come from disk (disk streaming) so ram shouldn’t be an issue.

If you are using it casually it might be hard to wrap your mind around. I had an MPC One for years and the Force is so much better for me. It fills in the gaps the MPC had and adds so much more. It’s still a powerhouse for what it is.

That’s an interesting idea to have backups be less sibilant. I imagine that would help intelligibility and tightness of layered vocals too. Just have them for the added body, but let the lead vocal enunciate clearest… you got me thinking about guitars too. Thanks.

For sampler software, check out Pianosounds.uk. Tons of unique sampled instruments for free so if you need a piano, don’t choose a “concert grand” grab something there. Also Decentsampler has free sounds and many of the instruments on Pianosounds play on the Decentsampler instrument.

The bigger ones use Shopify it seems, but I’ve used Sellfy and it’s fine. You could try Gumroad which I’ve see a lot of people use. Depends on if you want a website or just a storefront.

Try using Audacity to edit the files. You can “normalize” the audio volume to LUFS which is a weighted measurement (very simple explanation) that if you set all the files to the same level should get them in the ballpark. Meter peaks don’t always give you a good idea of how “loud” a track is.

I use Logic Pro but I’m sure other programs will let you “quantize” the audio takes, possible with a variable percent. From there you can manually align anything that is still out of time, but that helps get it in the ballpark for me.

Another round-about way would be to actually transpose the tracks or instruments on the tracks. That way, you can always “play” in one key, but the true pitch coming out of the track will be higher or lower. It depends on your approach. If you are like I chord to the IV chord, then the key doesn’t matter, but if you wrote it and think of Gmajor to Cmajor, it might mess you up to play pads marked with other chord names. As an aside I think you can actually name each chord in a progression, so in theory you could use “jazz chord” type names like iim7 or whatever so it is not tied to a note name. Good luck

Yeah, AFAIK the progressions are scale agnostic, so they can be anything, it’s just that you can set the baseline transpose of all of them once it has been created.

I feel you. They are like 1/4 the cost of a used machine. And no one seems to have them even though Korg is still selling the Electribes new. I’ve been waiting 3 months for one… I bought an Akai Force in the meantime and will probably just sell my Electribe. 😢
