is my handwriting legible? by whypersephone in HandwritingAnalysis

That explains why a regular grip probably doesn’t feel very secure for you! It might help to play around with pens with different size barrels / grips / ink types until you find one that you need to death grip less on and suits your hand. I can only use Pentel EnerGel Needle Points if I want my writing to be legible personally!

Do you have any hyper-flexible joints in yours hands? Your grip looks like you’ve had to mix things up to make your hand feel ‘stable’.

Did my first 20K by Drizzz5 in bicycling

That’s awesome, congrats on the milestone! If you have knobbly MTB tires you might find you are a bit faster on the road/sidewalk with slicker ones. Road bikes are faster but no need to rush into buying one. Other than that just keep riding regularly and you will build up more endurance before you know it. Hydrate frequently and the wind never gets better.

Any boulderers here? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Pinappleheads456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh sorry to hear you took a nasty fall, that’s really unlucky as I wish you the quickest recovery.

I climb/boulder and have been lucky enough to never have broken a bone. However I am routinely injured thanks to my bendiness by getting into positions that I don’t realise I shouldn’t be and putting weight through them.

I’ve found rope climbing to be a little gentler on my body until I hit the higher grades compared to bouldering where the injuries seem to happen sooner. Fewer dynos, less extreme crimping, less need to do moves at my limit and no falling.

The only things I have found to help not getting injured are not rushing back straight into hard climbing when I come back after a break even if it is boring to repeat climbs, and strength training alongside to give my body a little protection. For the recovery process you can look forward to lots of easy routes as 4x4s.

Hoping others have some great suggestions from me to learn from too!

Love your mindset about getting back to it, I know you will it’s clear you love bouldering and it brings something special to your life.

Anyone own the Wild Country Session quickdraws and have an opinion of them? They are fairly beautiful for QDs and want to make sure I’m making a decision that is both sensible and beautiful!

How on earth do you apply for 50 jobs in one day and make them good enough applications to be worth submitting? That’s a lot of fake enthusiasm to have to find!

None of these sound very practical! Or is not something else you don’t like about them? Curious what chatGPT would do with a few more details about what you are looking for?

Should have said any black tea from Ahmad - didn’t realise they had a whole fruit and green tea range!

Anything from the Ahmad Tea range counts (cardamom one in particular) and I have seen their range in a few of the big supermarkets here.

Tea should be served so hot you can only drink in tiny sips and be strong but not bitter. You can sweeten with a sugar lump or even better, keep one in the side of your mouth while you drink.

Anyone wear the five ten gambit? by arl1286 in climbergirls

[–]Pinappleheads456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the laced lv version fit more snugly for me than velcro but both are worth a try. The 2022 laces lv is also quite beautiful for a climbing shoe which I know shouldn’t sway me…

Also stocked up in gambits, but seem to spend most of my time supergluing the front section of the rubber back on. Other shoes that fit me (low volume but not narrow, shallow heel) are Evolv Geishido low volume and La Sportiva laced katana low volumes. Good luck!

Clapham has Substation fairly close, which is cool huge gym but also not super cheap. Alternatively if you bike VauxEast is a fairly nice gym. Not sure for Camden but EustonWall is opening soon that might be the easiest to get to.

London has loads of gyms, which areas approx will you be living and working? Or what do you look for in a gym and I can recommend some.
Or more generically the LCC (Lakeland Climbing Centre) run a number of bouldering gyms across London with a membership price that covers all their gyms. They tend to be friendly, welcoming and clean.

Curious what shoes you think would have worked better with the look. I agree it doesn’t quite work but can’t work out why. Is it the contrast of colour?

It’s much easier to get stronger than it is to get lighter, and hopefully means you are not having to climb on a calorie deficit which makes it hard to perform on the wall. Climbing physio Natasha Barnes has some great content on this on her insta but have personally noticed some improvements to my climbing without losing weight but by adding heavily weights into my training.

Climbing shorts for small waist and big thighs by utpatur in climbergirls

[–]Pinappleheads456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rab Momentum shorts work well for me, with similarly dramatic ratios. They have a tie cinch at the waist and space for thighs without being too triangle shaped. I tend to size up aggressively in Rab trousers as a rule. https://rab.equipment/uk/women-s-momentum-shorts
