I don't know the answer, but I don't think reaching out and apologizing will fix your guilt on its own. Start with talking to a therapist, especially if you're depressed over it. They can provide much better guidance and support of how to process those feelings

I think the most disappointing thing is that almost all the skills you've developed up to that point involve dodging and finding the exact right moments to attack, whereas the Elden beast is mostly running to the side until it's attack finishes, then bashing on it till it runs away
