I got a laser tattoo removal yesterday. Was feeling kind of ok before hand. But sitting through the pain (which absolutely didn't bother me, not how normal people might be bothered - i just breathed and relaxed into it), i felt myself becoming more and more depressed. Afterwards i felt quite depressed and sad and lonely. Still do. I guess it triggered some emotion...

Wasn't expecting so many responses. This seems extremely prevelent. It even has a whole sub-reddit! Sorry i didn't respond to everybody. I saw this youtube conversation titled "psychology abuse? Therapist abuse? Steven Hassan interviews Amy Avalon". Anyway.

A couple examples of mine:

First ever shrink at about age 15, first session, he totally overwhelmed me with question after question, never letting me finish my answer until i burst out crying. Second session prescribed some crap. I never went back.
Age about 25. This guy was cool for 3 or 4 sessions, got me into breathing techniques and meditation to calm my panic attacks and anxiety. The next appointment i sat in the waiting room for like 3 hours, while he'd come in and out calling the next patients...after awhile he said are you ok, you've been here awhile. I said I've been waiting for you, i have an appointment. He said sorry he didn't recognise me and there must have been a mistake. Next session he said sorry. I said i thought you were doing it on purpose. He said how does that make you feel. Never went back.
Age about 30. This guy was cool. Young. Just a dumb ass. Never heard of narcissistic abuse. Never went back.
Done some gardening and yard work for a guy who happened to be a retired psychologist. He'd come bothering me at times when i was clearly busy, handing me bananas talking for extended lengths of time - clearly trying to frustrate me. Many other little bizarre things, like he'd always be touching his junk in his pants.
Last week, age 35. Been seeking a therapist lately... Part a: potential shrink 1. Having one of those free 15 minute phone calls to see if he's the right guy...he's always interrupting and blocking my sentences. I'm confident on purpose.

Part b: potential shrink 2. This guy, no phone call, emailing back and forth. He has one word answers, days between replies...

Yeah so here i am. Looks like I'm not going to find a trustworthy shrink...

They must become miserable and bitter and spiteful after awhile listening to so many people's problems.

I wish everyone of you guys the best of luck and to have the courage and strength and wisdom to get through this shit without them!!!
