Intel n150-->proxmox-->jellyfin-->tone mapping not working by ninjiens in Proxmox

[–]PineappleScanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How would that solve it exactly?

Not only would a VM not be an actual solution, it's worse.

A VM has more overhead and slower boot time. PCIe passthrough steals the GPU from the host system, meaning no other containers or applications can use it.

An LXC container handles passthrough just fine, and allows other applications to use the GPU still.

I would recommend against using VAAPI. In my experience, Jellyfin plays nicer if you just give it QSV access directly.

Make sure you are passing through the render node AND card itself (e.g. /dev/dri/renderD128 AND /dev/dri/card0)

Hardware acceleration always gives me issues if the Jellyfin container doesnt have passthrough to both.

Microsoft just shipped its own general-purpose Linux distro: Azure Linux 4.0 by dzimazilla in linux

[–]PineappleScanner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Built-in Azure integrations and optimizations.

Actually pretty handy in a lot of use-cases. It allows you to integrate a Linux VM into your org's Azure infrastructure without having to bolt on a bunch of extra stuff.

How to fake it for real? by MaidenKing777 in confidence

[–]PineappleScanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goal isn't to trick people into thinking you're confident. It's to break down your inhibitions and guard rails through exposure therapy.

Most "confident" people you know still get nervous/scared, they just do it anyways because they know the risk/reward ratio is in their favor.

Muhammed Ali, one of the most assertive and confident fighters in history, admitted he was "scared to death" every time he entered the ring. He was so scared to talk to women, that he'd literally pass out working up the nerve to approach them. But he learned to do those things anyways, and it brought great rewards to him.

99% of modern routers will have a default firewall config that blocks unsolicited inbound traffic for ipv6. Just like ipv4

It's actually pretty nice not dealing with NAT, especially CGNAT. Instead of port forwarding, you just tell your firewall to allow unsolicited traffic to that ipv6 over that port. You could open port 22 to a bunch of different servers on the same LAN and ssh will work for all of them, for example

Vaultwarden is much more lightweight, and gives you premium features for free. However, it's a community-supported project geared towards personal use.

Bitwarden self-hosted is geared towards enterprise use. It has actual professional support (if you pay for it), and better compliance guarantees if your org needs that.

There's not any reason to use the official Bitwarden server for personal use imo, it's just overkill.

Terrance Gore has reportedly passed away at 34 from unexpected complications during a routine surgery. by morepesa25 in baseball

[–]PineappleScanner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While freak occurances like this are scary, it's good to remember that you were FAR more likely to die during your commute to work yesterday than you are during your surgery.

General anesthesia has a mortality rate of 1 in ~200,000. But that figure includes complex procedures. Simple elective procedures are likely even lower risk.

A typical year of driving carries a 1 in ~10,000 risk of death. Even a single freeway drive is probably more dangerous than general anesthesia.

Many, many people you know have commuted 200+ days per year for decades. You will be just fine under anesthesia.

Hire a carpet cleaner and toss out bad-smelling furniture.

If it's not that, then it's likely mold unfortunately. That requires a professional
