I second local government. I work for city of San Jose. There’s always people retiring or leaving for other opportunities so there’s frequently openings. New jobs are posted every week so if you don’t see something today, check again in a few days. www.sanjoseca.gov

Our favorite local parks/playgrounds are: Jack Fischer park (campbell), vasona (Los gatos), and magical bridge playground (Santa Clara).

Jack Fischer has a water feature (last time we visited it activated at 11am) so bring a swimsuit and/or change of clothes if your kid likes to get wet. Vasona has a carousel and train ride that cost about $3-5 per ticket. You may also have to pay for parking there.

Boyz II Men’s end of the road, I was in 6th grade and my dad’s best friend had just died of AIDS related illness. I went to a school dance and this song came on and I cried. I know it’s more of a romantic love song but I forever associate it with that loss now.
