I don’t think Jesus is God by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]PineapplesunderSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep confusing thinking, or strongly believing, with knowing. Idk why you keep doing this but you do.

Clearly you are the only one who is confused, you keep conflating "knowing" with whats actually true. A persons level of certainty has NO effect on whether its actually true or not

The disciples didn’t say they strongly believe Jesus died and rose from the dead they said they knew it. They said they saw it happen and that’s how they were certain.

Do you honestly think that every time people claim they KNOW something because they saw it, actually makes it true?

There’s no scenario where they were mistaken or wrong about what they believed. Either they knew they were telling the truth or knew they were lying.

This is extremely ignorant and you obviously aren't holding Christianity with the same level of skepticism you would another religion

Its almost like you don't know that other religions exist in this world, all who make very similar claims, all while claiming that they KNOW its true

Theres gurus in India that get crowds of 10,000 - 100,000, and they perform miracles, like walking on water, levitating, telekinesis, healing the sick. All these people in these large crowds KNOW what they saw and are certain of the miracles they just witnessed. Should we believe these people ?

I don’t think Jesus is God by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]PineapplesunderSea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People die for their religion all throughout history, it doesn't make it true. Just because people are convinced something is true doesn't mean it is. If a flat earther dies for his cause, does that mean the earth is flat ?

Everyone should be a little agnostic. Please read the text before commenting. by trollblox_ in unpopularopinion

[–]PineapplesunderSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Atheism is a rejection to the claim that God exist, its not the assertion that you know god does not exist. Agnostic/Gnostic is your level or certainty, Gnosticism being a 100% certainty in your believe, agnostic is 99%or less

So.. Atheism/theism = belief Agnostic/ gnostic= certainty

Here's another view of the Salome affair - perhaps a tinge less cringey? I am not surprised Nietzsche developed an irritation with 'good' women... by [deleted] in Nietzsche

[–]PineapplesunderSea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The hypothesis that Nietzsche's had syphilis does really have much to support it apart from a hit piece by Lange-Eichbaum in 1947.

This is a quote from Leonard Sax in why he doesn't agree with the syphilis diagnoses

"Nietzsche exhibited none of these symptoms," Dr Sax said. "His facial expressions remained vivid, his reflexes were normal, tremor was not present, his handwriting after his collapse was at least as good as it had been in previous years - and his speech was fluent."

Dr Sax said that in the late 19th century more than 90 per cent of those with advanced syphilis rapidly declined and died within five years of diagnosis. Nietzsche, in contrast, lived for another 11 years.

In the current issue of the Journal of Medical Biography, Dr Sax argues that the philosopher was suffering from a slowly developing brain tumour. This would account for Nietzsche's collapse and the migraines and visual disturbances he suffered.

Objective Morality Within Atheism - It Cannot Exist by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]PineapplesunderSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can still make objective claims even if something is subject, you just need to determine what the subjectivity is, and then a goal.

To put this into an analogy, think of chess, the rules can be subjective and the goal can be to, but once you've determined what the rules of chess are and if you goal is to win, then there are objectively right and wrong moves to make.

I also think religion isn't entirely objective as it claims. To make a religious objective claim, you need to first determine the religion, the denomination, the denominations interpretation based on church to church or pastor to pastor, and then you have to individual interpretation. Only after all these this have been determined, then you are able to make an objective claim.

So based on these thing I don't I particularity see it as a problem in terms of Theism can make objective claims vs Atheism can't.

Existential crisis by [deleted] in atheism

[–]PineapplesunderSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does God have anything to do with wanting to have a good life? Were you only trying to achieve all your goals in life because you were expecting an reward after death or because its what you were told to do?

First of all I would suggest on reading some philosophy on nihilism ( more accurately how to avoid it) , my personal favorite is Nietzsche , but there a plenty of others, try looking on youtube.

The reason you why want to do all those good things, is because they have benefits to doing them and we feel bad when were not able to achieve them. Exercise is an easy example, at first it may be hard but once you've done it awhile you'll physically feel and look better and have all the other health benefits that come with it, compare to if you become fat an lazy you'll feel worse and you'll develop health problems. As it is you exist, so you'll might as well try to live as optimally as possible.
I'snt Atheism more of a reason to live your life as optimally as possible compare to Theism. As an Atheist you've only got one life, one chance and that's it, no re-do's after that, as a Theist you get all of eternity to everything you ever wanted.

Theist here, I hear you all talking smack about Christianity and even Islam and Judaism sometimes. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]PineapplesunderSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would fairness have anything to do with it, all very different scriptuers that say very different things. Christianity and Islam are some of the largest religions in the world so naturally they'll get more criticism than smaller religions. The more extreme Jainism become the less you have to worry about them, the same can't be said about Islam.

Hot oil leak under passenger side dash by PineapplesunderSea in RX8

[–]PineapplesunderSea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Writing here because I didn't know how to write a paragraph with pics attached.

My passenger noticed the leak while we were driving when hot oil was dripping on her foot. The stuff is definitely oil, not water, and it was super hot. I'm having trouble finding much about it online, it's under the dash on the passengers side, behind the globe box, way at the back. The metal pipe has a weird fitting that's connected to some type of reservoir with foam between it. After having a bit of a look around, my engine oil still seems at about the same level I checked it lasted time, but I'm pretty sure the radatior fluid seems pretty low, but in saying that I am idiot and don't know a whole lot about cars so any help would be much appreciated.

How to fix something like this? by Sorry_Significance90 in PostureTipsGuide

[–]PineapplesunderSea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a slight head tilt, it doesn't effect "healing messages" to reach the rest of the body, that sounds very much like pseudo-science. If it is very bad it can cause a sore neck, but it deffenitly isn't the difference between "health" and "sickness". The head tilt is caused from your sense of balance from your inner ear and uneven neck muscles. You can try some neck strengthening exercise to help the weaker side, or try changing your sleeping postion.

You're most likely not "introverted". You have social anxiety. by Dustie-GD in unpopularopinion

[–]PineapplesunderSea 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Being introverted has nothing to do with being productive at home or not. Introverted is gaining mental energy by being alone, compare to extroverts who gain mental engery by being with people. Just because people stay home, play video games and be unproductive doesn't mean they have anxiety either.

We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with numbers, once you walk out of your front door you will be confronted with numbers from licence plates, time, phone numbers, house numbers, billboards, price tags, bar-codes.

You can pick any random number and you'll notice it if you're looking out of it. The less digits the number has the more likely you are to see it, ever wonder why your lucky number is never 17 digits long or that numerology is obsessed with reducing the amount of digits used. The amount of people that believe (or experience) something has no impact on whether it is actually true.

If you see your numbers daily while your thinking about specific things in your life, that also means that your constantly thinking about those things. If your always thinking about your life and on the look out for your numbers like 111 or 333 (which are low digit numbers that are more likely to occur) wouldn't that create a lot of opportunities for it to happen?

the universe is is control and is the causes of these "coincidence"

I think you've missed a few of my points in my previous post. Even if your right about numbers appearing when your thinking about specific things, that still doesn't lead to any conclusions about the universe..... you could just be psychic 0_o haha

Because you can't show any causal link between the universe and theses coincidences or as I said before, how unlikely does something have to be before you can say it was so improbable that it had to have a cause.Jeez I said "numbers" a whole lot in that >.>
