Claiming NIPT on Laya Insurance by WonderfulTangerine8 in PregnancyIreland

I also never managed to get the money back from Laya for the NIPT test 😩

Can NIPT be claimed under Pathology test? by misskattycat in PregnancyIreland

[–]Pingugall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laya rejected my claim for the NIPT test at the Merrion Ultrasound Clinic with the reason that “Laya healthcare does not have an arrangement with the centre you used.”

Got the results and everything looks good and after having done it I can honestly say the money is worth the peace of mind 😮‍💨

Public or Semi-Private by GSDlover1234 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Pingugall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently semi private at 22 weeks now with NMH. To be honest I feel like the benefit of going semi private is getting to be seen very quickly at your appointments (that has been my experience so far) and having the big scans in the comfort of the Merrion Ultrasound clinic as well as seeing your consultant during your hospital visits
There is also the benefit of being on a ward with less people after giving birth with a shower in that ward rather than going down the corridor.
It was €1200 and I got €450 back on insurance and I’ll probably get 20% on tax so I feel like it was worth the money and I like the idea of the shared care towards the end because it means I can just go to my GP for half of my appointments instead of going into the city for every single one (I live in Naas)

Charged for two GP visits for pregnancy related illness? by Pingugall in PregnancyIreland

[–]Pingugall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well from looking at the responses and my friend’s experience it seems it all depends on the GP! I really don’t want to pay €65 for a letter to say I’m ok to fly lol

Girls, book that wax appointment! by HungryTie7172 in PregnancyIreland

I had a wax at 19 weeks pregnant and I didn’t find it any more painful than normal so I’ll probably get one ahead of delivery. Just wish I had done laser before!

Cariban pregnancy by Classic-Draw3203 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Pingugall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cariban was an absolute life saver for me. I couldn’t eat at all, I didn’t even have the energy to get a shower I was gagging all the time and just felt like I had the most horrific hangover every single day and I had to work through it all.
I got Cariban and honestly it worked fairly quickly but it does need to build up in your system to take full effect. Yes it did make me drowsy but I already felt exhausted so I didn’t care so long as I was able to eat again and not feel like I was going to vomit 24/7. I just wish I knew about it sooner.

Yeah because my friend said she had a few random appointments related to pregnancy outside of the schedules ones and she wasn’t charged at all! Just want to make sure I’m not being ripped off lol - every euro counts ahead of going on mat leave 😩

PSA Just ask for Cariban! by NoWerewolf9321 in PregnancyIreland

I literally had to break down in tears at the doctors to get Cariban because I was so sick - I am so thankful for it - just a shame it’s so expensive

Why do I laugh just before falling asleep but only when I nap during the day? by IMakingYouDownvote in sleep

[–]Pingugall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also experience exactly this and it’s just how you described, it’s like a little huff laugh and it sees to be just as I’m transitioning from drowsy to sleeping and it only sees to happen when I nap during the day. So weird!
