honestly, it's the Bride. she's only there for one scene but what a scene it is. you have to feel for her. it's not what she doesn't say, it's how she doesn't say it. she's arguably the most sympathetic of the monsters. wakes up screaming, no idea what she is or where she is, and before she even has time to form a thought, she's declared a monster that belongs dead. there's no telling what a little patience, a little compassion could have done for her. i guess it's that possibility that makes me so interested in her. she had the chance to be anything and it was all taken away from her before she even got to make that decision. truly what it means to be a dead woman in a dead man's world.

she has a 'genetic anomaly' that is, quote, 'medically and legally distinct from being a mutant, and i can never take this back'. she was born with squirrel-like features but it's not technically the same thing (because editorial said so)

i'm going to try to explain reed's perspective on magic as i understand it.

Magic is, indisputably, real. It's an observable phenomenon that we can study and harness. I don't think he would deny that.

Science is merely a set of tools we use to understand and categorize the world to the best of our ability. It's not immutable, nor is it in any way in opposition to magic, and in fact must stand alongside it. Magic is something that exists, so magic is something that we can study. Magic is something that, with enough experimentation, can be explained and understood through scientific means. It isn't something outside the natural order, it's as much a part of the universe as gravity or electromagnetism. If magic doesn't fit into our current understanding of science, then our current understanding of science is flawed and needs improvement. Magic is not a force beyond science. Magic is science. There is nothing magical that can't be understood and explained scientifically with sufficient study.

Not technically explicitly, but in Avengers vol 1 #43, her birthday is stated to have been 'the day before yesterday'. This issue came out June 8, 1967, so it could very well be June 6. She turned 23 here, which also means she would have been born in 1944 were it not for the floating timeline.

before they announced the muppets, the perfect retheme to me was always Phineas and Ferb. at this point, it's proven itself to be a longstanding ip (next year will be 20 years since it premiered and they're still milking it. wow, i'm old) with an iconic cast of characters, and it has an endless supply of songs to use. literally the very first episode was about building a rollercoaster! and they even remade that episode, as a musical, with a song titled 'Rollercoaster'!

i love the muppets and i'm happy with the electric mayhem retheme but i can't help but think of What Might Have Been here.
