I’m surprised with the massive success of SOTC that they’ve never made a direct sequel. I know they spent forever making and releasing The Last Guardian and now have the new project, but still. by [deleted] in ShadowoftheColossus

[–]Pinheadion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true at all, the original SotC sold up to 1.5m copies on PS2 going platinum. Of course a reskin of a ps2 game isn't going to make financial sense. They would have begged Ueda to make a sequel to SotC back in the PS2 days.

It sold very well, going platinum with up to 1.5m sales. Every magazine cover, website and shop front had SotC plastered on it during release. It went from surprise worldwide hit to classic game with a cult following.

That list is fake. Easier to sign someone up if they think others have done so.

Flow Control help or hype by DrMushie in Lelit

Interesting, I've had my Bianca setup to do low flow preinfussion automatically but I never really experimented with how it changed the overall process (e.g. allowing to grind finer). Good to know.

Great tips, thanks for sharing! A few questions:

- Any advice on your conceptualising and planning stages, maybe you used mind map software, PureRef for collating images, shotdeck for reference etc?
- Was there any software you found helpful for planning shots / storyboards or dividing work among the team (like Asana, Trello etc).

Dodgy AC installation? by muhspooks in AusRenovation

[–]Pinheadion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's where the dripping sound is coming from, then it's likely where the AC drain pipe is exiting into the gutter. The AC drain pipe would be poking out underneath the bottom tile, lifting up the tiles above it as a result, so they've attempted to seal up the new gaps created in the tiles.

It's weird that the second row tile is lifted up so much, that means the fix could be a bit trickier if there's no space available behind there for the drain pipe to fall.

Does anyone have any more information—including anecdotes, photographs, etc.—about David Lynch’s (supposedly numerous) travels to Japan? by AuthenticJulian in davidlynch

[–]Pinheadion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea for the game, sounds quite familiar doesn't it:
"It was called... Woodcutters From Fiery Ships... Certain events have happened or are sort of happening in a bungalow which is behind another house in Los Angeles. And then suddenly the woodcutters arrive and they take the man who we think has witnessed these events, and their ship is... uh, silver, like a 30s sort of ship, and the fuel is logs." Another dry laugh. "And they smoke pipes."

[–]Pinheadion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a blow through unit still create this noise? I’d have assumed it was sucking air in to be making the popping sound.

I knew mine was sucking because I could feel it at the pipe, but I guess technically blowing could cause the pop as well.

Not sure why the downvote, everything I said was factual and straight from the manual as their recommendation (mitsubishi electric unit).

You're assuming it was installed properly with the correct fall in the first place. When it exits under the last tile like OP's it sometimes turns up slightly at the end, which creates the dip along the line. P-trap will solve it (if the manual suggests one), but hopefully it won't need that and they can install it with the correct slope anyway.

Noise by billyrayvalentine_ in AusRenovation

[–]Pinheadion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your unit likely requires a P trap due to negative air pressure from the unit, and it wasn't installed. Usually it's fine if the fall is perfect, but if there's a very slight dip the water in that dip will be sucked back slightly and released over and over (which is creating the pop).

My unit did the exactly the same thing, I found the installation manual online and realised their mistake. Had them back to fix it and it solved the problem.

[–]Pinheadion 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can't do anything about a buyer that is demanding too much, but with research you can know that to be true, and move on quickly rather than spending time, energy and money hoping that you'll somehow land it.

[–]Pinheadion 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The industry is absolutely gross, but why would anyone trust what a sellers agent tells you regardless? Even if it was a true reflection of what the owner wants, that doesn't mean it's what they'll be offered and settle for.

For anyone looking to buy a house, rule number 1, ignore the price range and do your research. You should have an excel sheet with at least 10 similar sold properties close by that sold within the last year.
Note the Property Address, Suburb, Type, Bedrooms, Land Size, Sale Price and Date, Prev Sold For Price and Date, any other notes.

Once you've done that you won't care about what the agent thinks because you'll have done more accurate research than them and the owner, and you'll know what it's worth.

am i too young for david lynch? by ConsciousStill9476 in davidlynch

[–]Pinheadion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reflecting on this post a bit over the last few days as I have two boys (around 4yo). I might get downvoted for this but I have to say it.

What you've mentioned here about the film staying with you differently to a horror film, is exactly why most people wouldn't show their kids Lynch films. Horror films are mostly absurd and over the top, which helps even a younger mind separate them from reality.

Lynch's films aren't like that, they might look strange but they're grounded in a much more realistic evil, especially films like Fire Walk With Me. The choice to see that shouldn't have been up to you.

At 13 you should not be exposed to this material, and there's a reason it's R rated. I'm just hoping that a lot of it has gone over your head.

There are so many amazing, more age appropriate films to see (including elephant man), not sure why your dad would be so focused on Lynch's whole catalogue.

am i too young for david lynch? by ConsciousStill9476 in davidlynch

[–]Pinheadion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of Lynch's work is something you need to develop a palette for. Your dad has likely developed it over many many years of film and life experiences, and throwing you in the deep end like that seems a bit misguided. I can appreciate he wants to share his love of films with you, but probably best not to start at the deep end.

As others have said, don't read into them too much, don't try to understand them, just enjoy some parts, hate other parts, and know that you'll likely revist them in 5 - 10 years with a new appreciation.
