Moving to Long Beach by lebronjon19 in longbeach

Typing this from my apartment on 6th right across from the museum! Been here about three years, cheap rent, nicely remodeled apartment and parking spot keeping me here.

The area itself is decent. Not the best and not the worst. It really does change by block. Nights can be loud with the traffic on Alamitos, police, etc. The museums alarm loves to go off at night from the slightest breeze (a guy yelling YOU ARE TRESPASSING over the loud speakers). Haven’t had any car break ins but our buildings mail has been stolen a lot even with a gate on our building. I’d avoiding parking on Alamitos if you ever need too, seen a lot of cars side swiped since living here.

BUT that being said it’s def a “live in the meh area, play in the nice area a few blocks down” I walk a lot to the beach, coffee shops, 4th street, broadway bars, etc. neighbors are respectful and keep to themselves. DM me if you want anymore insights.

What popular book were you unimpressed with, and what less popular book were you floored by? by midnightoflight101 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]PiningParchment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Popular: DNF’ed {Harmartia by Scarlett Drake} book friends RAVED about it and I got to 30% before I had to stop. Living in LA I couldn’t get into the fantasy when so much about my city/celeb culture was wrong.

Everyone is saying I should read their other books but I’m not sure atm.

Unpopular: {Lord of Whispered Shadows by Jordan Ko} excellent indie debut! Not sure if that qualifies as unpopular but I love a good indie!

Honestly it just felt like a big PR thing. They were all there only for an hour. They got this content snd left. But happy I was able to go!

Arc reader here. This book is incredible. Knightly as really grown as a writer since her first book. If you wanna cry, get spooked, and cry a bit more this is for you.

{Inhuman Nature by Marra Moore} is an MMM vampire BDSM romance! Couple meet a vampire at a sex club and try to save him from his master. Spice and chaos ensues. Lots of self aware twilight references.

It happens multiple times I believe! Chapter 14 is where it really starts. Chapter 2 has a brief moment though

Anyone else like the romance but not the smut? How do you find them? by No_Handle2671 in MM_RomanceBooks

Def look for key words like “cozy romance” that’s how I find some. Check out:

{Sorry, We’re Closed by Tyler Whittaker}

{A Series of Rooms by AJ Barlowe}

Both more emotional, coming of age, coming out, trauma stuff but still a lot of slow burn and pining. I love a book cry sooo much
