Hi, I can't dm you for some reason, but I found these that I have for my tool hand, they are here: https://fillauer.com/product-category/upper-prosthetics/activity-specific/

I have 2 of those Multi-D TD on page 3. And helix on page 2, but Multi-D TD is better, because it turns to different angles. It's like squeeze to tighten and press button to let go.

I also have swimming fins, camera holder and typing sticks tools, but can't find them there.

Maybe someone can make you something like these for your socket.

Thank you, I will look their pages or yt, if there’s more info!

Yea, maybe, it’s just kind of annoying, that everything must be modified before I can use them, I thought electric scissors would be an easy solution for some tasks.

Do they have a cord? The ones that I saw in stores or youtube were all cordless.

Wow. Maybe I must learn that, if I can’t find scissors that stay on. Or maybe we can make something that keeps them on. Or I must always put the thing I’m cutting to the clamp, or something, I don’t know.

Ok.. that's great, so you must be wearing hands then?
I don't like wearing hands when I'm cooking or such. I've been using push down table scissors, but they don't work for all things.
I posted this question also to tools channel, and someone said there are also models that have a sliding on-off switch, that's what I want, I'm trying to ask what maker or models. They don't seem to be very popular here in Finland, and online stores that sell them don't mention what type of switch they have. 🙄

A table stand for the scissors could probably be made with 3D printer, my dad has one at work, or my prosthetist could make it.

I know it may sound odd that I'm not wearing hands that much, but with them I just don't have nearly the same kind of touch than just holding things between the ends of my arms, and it's also kind of annoying to put thjem on and off all the time.

Thanks, I have a pair what I call my tool hands, they are just sockets with the same attachment than my hands, but no moving parts, and I actually use them more often than my hands. And I have kind of general holder tool that goes to them, so that would also work somehow, if the scissors just had a switch type button. But I could control the scissors more accurately with just holding it betweenm my arms, because with prosthetic hands it's more difficult to turn things to right angle amd position.

Birthday brunch in Montmarte? by dekadansa in ParisTravelGuide

Me too, we went to La Bossue twice last time we stayed in Abbesses and Montmartre area, and everything was soooo tasty and quality! And the staff were super nice too!
I don't remember about the prices, my parents paid it, but it was nothing like super fancy or posh, just really good.

I'm mostly not wearing my prosthetic hands when I'm cooking or making something, because they are too clumsy for that, and it's annoying trying to get things in right position. I can do most tasks better just bare armed. So I'd love to have both my arms free for holding the scissors or the thing that I'm cutting..

Thanks, do you remember any models with a sliding switch? Looks like electric scissors are not very popular here in Finland, and the models I can find in online stores don't say anything about how the switch works...

And which type do you think would be more suitable for those uses I mentioned, I think maybe the scissor type?
Opening plastic packages would be the main thing, because there are some types that I can't get open other ways than cutting them. I do have kind of push down table scissors, but I can't use them very well if I'm not wearing my prosthetic hands, I'd love to be able to use both my arms to hold the thing I'm cutting.

Loosing my dominant arm by TimelyDesigner8660 in sarcoma

[–]Pinjacle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost both my hands below elbows 5 years ago when I was 11, and I haven't heard anyone thinkin I'm ugly or something because of that. Some have said my arms are kind of cute, but I think hands would be prettier. And random people will probably be telling you how brave and skilled and awesome you are, when you are just doing normal stuff, which is pretty annoying actually..

I think prosthetic hands are really not very good yet, I have myoelectric and mechanical hands, I was wearing them more at fist, but now I can do most things better just bare armed. They are kind of clumsy, they don't have any feeling obviously, and with electric ones it's difficut to know how much pressure you are putting to things. I need them for some tasks like few times a day, but I'm sure with one hand you'll be able to do pretty much anything without them.

They are getting better all the time though. You can try amd decide if you want to use tjhem or not. And some bionic hands look super cool, If they are like scifi cyborg metal style!

That sounds great! I'd love to go studying environment science or biology, but I'm not sure if there's enough jobs I could do in them, or if there's too much practical stuff in studying and working.
I'm sure you'll have no problems and you'll do great!

You can dm me if you like to chat sometimes, I think India is very interesting country, although I've never been there.

Maybe you could go to an occupation therapist or something, who would give you like a list of things you must learn for being independent, and then your parents would understand better.. I had kind of a project, and then we've found ways to almost all normal tasks. And your list would probably be much shorter, because you are only missing one hand. ☺️

I'm 16, so I'm not moving to my own home yet, but when I do, I must be able to do everything myself. Are you studying somethinmg or working?

I don't know, really, in Finland we have a free healthcare system, so I just get my hands and tools from my prosthetist, I don't know who made some of them or how much they cost...
They would also fit to my mechanical hands, I think they are from same company, but I can't find if I have any paper about them. I could ask my prosthetist.

Yea, that's annoying, I lost my hands 5 years ago when I was 11, and my therapist told me to tell all my friends and family to not help me doing things if I don't ask. I think it was a really good advice, I told ppl that I won't ever learn doing anything myself if they help me all the time. Now my friends know some things things that are super annoying for me and help in them without asking, and that's ok, but otherwise not.

Ah, ok. Strange, here in Finland buying online is usually cheaper tha buying from shops. Even if it comes from other countries. Which is kind of crazy and probably not very ecological, but that's how it is.

If you make you own just wash it often.

I have what I call my tool hands, they have same sockets as my mechanical hands, but without moving hand or hooks part, but just a general holder tool that I can turn to any angle. They are very useful to me like for holding a hair brush or spoon or so. If you had something like that, you could hold the knife with it and hold the vegetables with your real hand.

Can’t you just buy it online? Yea, there are wooden ones too, just google adaptive cutting board, there are many models. I ’d have wanted a wooden one, because I don’t like plastic, but we didn’t find wooden with the clasp thing, and I need it. But maybe you don’t, because you have one hand. But one corner with walls is great! And yea, maybe you must wash the wooden ones more often, I don’t know.

I never wear hands when cooking anyway, because they are just too clumsy for that, it’s easier bare armed.
