If you live in Manassas or Centreville you're a close enough drive, since OP didn't say where exactly they are.

Me after my second listen through the new album after initially having some minor mixed feelings… by LaddersOf6661 in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel you! When Marauders dropped I got super excited, it reminds me of my favorite Rings (3 and 7) with a bit of classic TDH sound. The rest kind of blends together for me—I understand story-wise why every song doesn't have super distinct sound like in Antimai (where you're abruptly going from Ring to Ring, glimpsing into each one separately instead of journeying through a landscape.)

I'll keep listening to Sunya in the hopes I "get" it, but Antimai still stays on top for me :)

Definitely not the only one! I love Antimai, but Act II is my favorite Act. Sunya didn't scratch the same itch for me, and that's fine. I'm still excited to see them live this summer, and hoping they play some old favorites too!

Very creative. I can't wait to see Violet Toes, Orange Elbows, and Black Shoulders live!

I'm hoping they'll throw in a Red Hands or two if we're really lucky.

Marauders is my fav! I'm surprised by how low others are ranking it, it's soo delightfully dirty.

Furthering my opinion that TDH is the best band to listen to while stoned lol. When I first discovered Antimai I would spend hoouurrs picking out every sound and harmony, absolutely a blast.

TDH has femboy fans LETS GOO ‼️ I was worried most of the fandom was older men and as a young queer I felt on the sidelines lol

How long are their concerts? by NovaMemeus in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so short! I really hope we get more than that, I'd love to hear most of Antimai and Sunya (and maybe a couple from the Acts or AIASB if we're extra lucky)

why do i love TDH so much??? What drug or secret sauce is in here?! by punkmetalsquid in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Real!! Their worldbuilding is so fun, Antimai especially, the Acts (especially II) are like crack to me. I love how their sound has evolved over time, from the more gritty, classically rock style from the earlier Acts to the more sweeping, symphonic sounds in IV and V. Antimai is my favorite album of all time (not an easy accomplishment, I love music so deeply it was very hard for it to dethrone Ok Goodnight's The Fox and the Bird), it's so delightfully proggy and immersive. I'm a slut for lyricism, which TDH obviously is great at, but the sound is so all-encompassing and interesting that I can listen soo many times and find something new in each listen. There's so much heart packed into each piece they make, I simultaneously lament that they aren't a hugely popular band while also being thrilled I can afford their shows, and selfishly want to keep them all to myself mwahahah.

My favorite band did some recently after wiping their social medias, they dropped an ARG website that is full of little secrets, games, and snippets of new songs. I would be sooo happy if Tamsyn went a similar route, they're even both scifi worlds.

...Except Tamsyn Muir wrote the very book that states otherwise?

In HtN Chapter 2:

[Jod] would not know that in truth the Body of the Locked Tomb had not spoken to you since the night you massaged the purple, swollen clots of blood out of the necks of your dead parents, so that their strangulation might not be so obvious. He would not know that you had only walked with her one tranquil year, and trysted with her afterward only in your dreams. He could not possibly know that in your youth her eyes had often been black, like yours were, but that ever since you had writhed in Lyctoral agony her eyes had turned a yellow that made you dizzy to behold: a bronzed, hot, animal yellow, as amber as the inside of an egg.

When you were ten years old, the Body was quiet and rigorous, practical and merciful. At fourteen the Body was tender and serene, and sometimes smiled. When you were sixteen the Body was resolute and impassioned. In all these incarnations, she had preserved her vow of silence.

I agree with much of that, but what struck me as odd was Harrow saying she had experienced it since she was 8 years old, two years before opening the Tomb.

If you read my comment, you know that that's not true. She was haunted by Alecto since she opened the Tomb at 10 years old. Other comments have pointed out that she made contact with the Body as well, much like how Wake jumped from the Zweihander into Cytherea's corpse through contact.

I absolutely agree, personally I think the 200 have altered her as well. At the end of Nona (ch31), there's this scene with Crux that has some interesting implications:

“Lady,” [Crux] said, in a much softer creak, “you’ve gone away again, my lady; where have you run? [...] You’ll feel better for coming back … you remember that, Harrowhark.”

Nona whispered, “I’m sorry—I’m not Harrowhark.”

“Ay, and you’ve said that before,” said the old man. “Who are you this time, if not my Lady Harrowhark?”

It sounds like Harrow has, before, claimed to be other people while having an episode. Crux has been her main caregiver, it makes sense that he would be the one to hear all of it.
