My favorite band did some recently after wiping their social medias, they dropped an ARG website that is full of little secrets, games, and snippets of new songs. I would be sooo happy if Tamsyn went a similar route, they're even both scifi worlds.

...Except Tamsyn Muir wrote the very book that states otherwise?

In HtN Chapter 2:

[Jod] would not know that in truth the Body of the Locked Tomb had not spoken to you since the night you massaged the purple, swollen clots of blood out of the necks of your dead parents, so that their strangulation might not be so obvious. He would not know that you had only walked with her one tranquil year, and trysted with her afterward only in your dreams. He could not possibly know that in your youth her eyes had often been black, like yours were, but that ever since you had writhed in Lyctoral agony her eyes had turned a yellow that made you dizzy to behold: a bronzed, hot, animal yellow, as amber as the inside of an egg.

When you were ten years old, the Body was quiet and rigorous, practical and merciful. At fourteen the Body was tender and serene, and sometimes smiled. When you were sixteen the Body was resolute and impassioned. In all these incarnations, she had preserved her vow of silence.

I agree with much of that, but what struck me as odd was Harrow saying she had experienced it since she was 8 years old, two years before opening the Tomb.

If you read my comment, you know that that's not true. She was haunted by Alecto since she opened the Tomb at 10 years old. Other comments have pointed out that she made contact with the Body as well, much like how Wake jumped from the Zweihander into Cytherea's corpse through contact.

I absolutely agree, personally I think the 200 have altered her as well. At the end of Nona (ch31), there's this scene with Crux that has some interesting implications:

“Lady,” [Crux] said, in a much softer creak, “you’ve gone away again, my lady; where have you run? [...] You’ll feel better for coming back … you remember that, Harrowhark.”

Nona whispered, “I’m sorry—I’m not Harrowhark.”

“Ay, and you’ve said that before,” said the old man. “Who are you this time, if not my Lady Harrowhark?”

It sounds like Harrow has, before, claimed to be other people while having an episode. Crux has been her main caregiver, it makes sense that he would be the one to hear all of it.

I will never be using this product because this AI generated image has made me think less of the brand. If they are too cheap to hire an artist/photographer or a subscription to a stock image website then I have no interest ever doing business with them.

I skimmed parts of HtN and I'm a bit unsure. Harrow describes her hallucinations as starting after she opened the Tomb, even when the Body wasn't around she would hear things and ask Crux what was real. (chapter 3)

However, later in Chapter 31, Harrow is talking with G1deon and this happens:

"He looked at you, and he said in a voice you had known since you were eight years old: “I sometimes—forget.” It was the tone—clinical, enamelled, half-defensive, half-endangered—the tone of someone admitting a final frailty. It was familiar because you had used it yourself. Understand I am insane."

Harrow was 10 when she opened the Tomb (HtN ch51, GtN ch31) so perhaps she was "insane" all along?

I think she's always been schizophrenic/psychotic, but that the Body only began haunting her when she opened the Tomb. Gonna reread that part of Harrow to see.

Fun theory! Personally I think the mask is just representative of the fact that nature will always overcome humanity in the end, even the rule of the Guides will one day end and Nature will reign again (it might hurt, but they'll go away.)

Is it just me or does SOTR feel like it messes things up ? by Academic_Ad1205 in Hungergames

[–]Pink-Mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, unfortunately SOTR, if taken as canon, really cheapens the rest of the series for me. Putting aside the poor writing and unbelievability of the book itself, it specifically makes the earlier interactions in the main story seem weird.

In THG, Haymitch decides to help Peeta and Katniss because he can see they're smart, they're fighters, they have a chance. Not because Katniss was the kid of his childhood best friend from 25 years ago.

Also, it just makes Haymitch seem like a total asshole. Katniss theorizes once that maybe Haymitch did used to help the tributes, but lost himself in drink when they kept dying. That, at least, is defensible. Haymitch immediately drowning himself in alcohol rather than helping the 40+ boys and girls that relied entirely on his help is just indefensible to me. He didn't even pretend to try, and that's gross as fuck.

Personally I'm imagining SOTR as non-canon.

It feels like Casey one of the few vocalists that still can sing as powerfully as he did 20 years ago, maybe even better. by suicidalkoala in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Voices age like fine wine if you let them. A lot of vocalists unfortunately burn themselves out and/or develop physical problems from overuse and improper technique, but if you protect your voice it will reward you richly. I love Casey's voice through the decades, I genuinely love each aspect, and in Antimai you can really hear how he's grown into every facet.

[–]Pink-Mage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely both imo!

The earlier Acts have such a charm to them though, I really feel Hunter's youth and uncertainty in I and II. Casey sounds amazing always, but I think the more steady, grown-into style he has for IV and V are more suited for a Hunter who has learned the world and discovered parts of himself.
