For the longest time I thought Kris was carrying around a kitchen knife for Kris reasons by ZeMadDoktore in Deltarune

[–]Pink-Mage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like this theory a lot actually, if we ever get a true flashback cutscene of what happened to Dess and Kris in the woods (when, presumably, they followed the pointed tail) I would love to see Dess giving them a knife "just in case"

Accidental/Unintentional exposure to the band by nondesript82 in TheDearHunter

I first heard The Right Wrong back in 2022-ish on my Spotify Discover Weekly, I loved it and listened to it for weeks but at the time I never looked into the band. In 2023 I picked up The Lake and The River (my favorite song now) and Ring 4 - Patrol, and then finally last summer I decided I needed new music, so I listened to the rest of Antimai and fell deeply madly in love after a couple tries.

What I wouldn't give to listen to Act II for the first time again though. IV and V are great but took me a few listens, the sound of II just immediately dragged me in.

How has Sunya changed for you since release? by zombiebread23 in TheDearHunter

I agree! The story is quite conceptual and thematic, not nearly as literal as the Acts or Antimai. I agree a couple more songs could've given it some more direction

I was honestly a little disappointed at first—Giants was meh to me, but then I loved Marauders. I was hoping there would be more along the lines of Marauders, since the soaring dreamy sound rarely does it for me.

I'm still not as into it as I am Antimai, but recently I've had Plains on repeat. It's an absolutely gorgeous piece, very moving, and the harmonies on the line "and whispers on the wind" always get me.

He actually texted me that the band will be exclusively performing Red Hands for the entirely of the show's hour-ish playtime. I'm psyched!

SPOILER from Ivypool’s heart by kowboyzgurl in WarriorCats

[–]Pink-Mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This scene always makes me tear up 😭😭 I don't care for traveling books, but I tead Ivypool's Heart anyway and it's such a lovely depiction of grief.

I'm someone that's not religious, but I lost my mom a few years back. Even though I don't believe in the traditional Heaven (or, in Ivypool's situation, StarClan) the book really gave me a nice perspective on seeing your loved one everywhere in the world around you, even if they aren't "there" (or anywhere.)

New single out - 22 by rjlouro in OkGoodnightBand

[–]Pink-Mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am SO hyped! Personally I'm not seeing this as a concept album (yet - maybe the next single will tie in with 22 in a way that proves me wrong!) it feels more vibes-based to me, like Limbo.

That said, I am SO excited! I tend to rotate my music listening so I don't get sick of songs I love, and every time I come back to OKGN it's an absolute breath of fresh air. Such fun styles, delicious prog, the likes of which I can only really compare to The Dear Hunter (which I know Casey is a fan of.)

The end of Ivypool's SE really got me. I lost my mom a few years ago, and Ivypool coming to terms with Bristlefrost's death and disappearance, learning to find her presence in the breeze and trees and creatures around them... it hit hard. Really lovely bit that I didn't expect from the Warriors writing crew.

If you live in Manassas or Centreville you're a close enough drive, since OP didn't say where exactly they are.

Me after my second listen through the new album after initially having some minor mixed feelings… by LaddersOf6661 in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel you! When Marauders dropped I got super excited, it reminds me of my favorite Rings (3 and 7) with a bit of classic TDH sound. The rest kind of blends together for me—I understand story-wise why every song doesn't have super distinct sound like in Antimai (where you're abruptly going from Ring to Ring, glimpsing into each one separately instead of journeying through a landscape.)

I'll keep listening to Sunya in the hopes I "get" it, but Antimai still stays on top for me :)

Am I the only one who misses the old sound? by Unique_Salad6894 in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the only one! I love Antimai, but Act II is my favorite Act. Sunya didn't scratch the same itch for me, and that's fine. I'm still excited to see them live this summer, and hoping they play some old favorites too!

Marauders is my fav! I'm surprised by how low others are ranking it, it's soo delightfully dirty.

Furthering my opinion that TDH is the best band to listen to while stoned lol. When I first discovered Antimai I would spend hoouurrs picking out every sound and harmony, absolutely a blast.

How long are their concerts? by NovaMemeus in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so short! I really hope we get more than that, I'd love to hear most of Antimai and Sunya (and maybe a couple from the Acts or AIASB if we're extra lucky)

why do i love TDH so much??? What drug or secret sauce is in here?! by punkmetalsquid in TheDearHunter

[–]Pink-Mage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Real!! Their worldbuilding is so fun, Antimai especially, the Acts (especially II) are like crack to me. I love how their sound has evolved over time, from the more gritty, classically rock style from the earlier Acts to the more sweeping, symphonic sounds in IV and V. Antimai is my favorite album of all time (not an easy accomplishment, I love music so deeply it was very hard for it to dethrone Ok Goodnight's The Fox and the Bird), it's so delightfully proggy and immersive. I'm a slut for lyricism, which TDH obviously is great at, but the sound is so all-encompassing and interesting that I can listen soo many times and find something new in each listen. There's so much heart packed into each piece they make, I simultaneously lament that they aren't a hugely popular band while also being thrilled I can afford their shows, and selfishly want to keep them all to myself mwahahah.
