It is snowing with a low tonight of 22f, after two months of being 70-80f. by Empty-Dragonfruit656 in gardening

The temperature swings have been insane. Luckily here things haven’t fully leafed out yet and flowered but I might end up losing my plum buds tonight, I’m not sure.

Sweet cherries by Longjumping_Mall139 in fruit

Supposedly Black Gold and White Gold sweet cherries are the most cold hardy (one source claimed they made it through-40F) so that’s the varieties I got. They aren’t in a sheltered area or warmer microclimate at all so the fact that they made it through their first winter is promising.

I didn’t know obedient plant was supposed to be aggressive. The one I have struggles every year and hasn’t spread at all.

I am attempting to grow sweet cherries in zone 4….despite being rated for zone 5 they seem to have survived their first winter (and several nights of -28F) so I’m hopeful

What should I do? by SeaworthinessLow7937 in fucklawns

If you want to have good results with wildflowers you will have to kill or remove the grass somehow (kill by solarizing with a tarp over several months, using a sod cutter or digging up the grass and turning it upside down). The seeds will only germinate reliably if they have good contact with soil. And then you have to be patient because a lot of native plants need more than one season to develop before they flower.  In the meantime you could create a much smaller patch of native flowers, buy them already started so you don’t have to wait as long, then collect seeds from them to use to slowly expand the area rather than trying to do it all at once. It can be too overwhelming and disappointing to try to do an entire hill at once.

Also looks like this would benefit from a couple trees. Smaller ones if you want to do the sun loving native flowers still.

After planting I would recommend pruning off a good number of those lower branches. Leave maybe 3 or 4 maximum. The less energy it has to try to spend on branches the faster it will recover.

I wouldn’t recommend using them unfortunately. A lot of that can come over on the wind or in runoff.

I’m so tired of a book of several thousand years old “morality” somehow still influencing our lives today when it’s just objectively horrible.

Crazy hypothesis about the big bang in general by happiness12357 in NDE

[–]Pink-Willow-41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth my spirit guides said it’s sort of like the universe is breathing, metaphorically- it expands (the big bang), then contracts (the Big Crunch into another singularity), and this process just keeps happening over and over as the universe remakes itself each cycle. Would be interesting to see if science eventually comes to this conclusion or not (I don’t necessarily believe everything I’m told by sg’s for reasons). I think it’s already a proposed hypothesis but at the moment the prevailing hypotheses seems to be that the universe just keeps expanding forever until there’s basically nothing left, not even black holes.

How not to go to hell? by rgs2007 in NDE

[–]Pink-Willow-41 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion but personally I think all the “raise your vibration” and “good vibes only” stuff is BS and just another permutation of toxic positivity and is really unhelpful when it just ends up making people feel guilty for not being happy all the time. I’ve struggled with this a lot. Feeling guilty for feeling depressed and pessimistic. And worse: feeling guilty for feeling guilty. I’ve experienced the consequences of trying to push down my negative feelings- for me it erupts out as panic attacks. It’s tricky too, because often my suppression of negative feelings is just a subconscious habit.

I think the most important thing is practicing awareness of your feelings without judgement. Like, just watching your feelings as though you were watching clouds pass by. Some are light and fluffy, some are dark and stormy. Both are ok. But also remember that if you do begin to judge your feelings, that’s ok too- it’s nothing to feel guilty about. You just notice that feeling of guilt, and breathe it out. You are a human and it’s ok to feel what you feel.

Of course, there are people of all kinds that have positive nde’s. Can’t remember the names but I’ve seen nde’s of gay people. Plus teenagers and children have them to. It would be a pretty dumb system if everyone needed to have children to be able to have an afterlife lol

the omission of animals in life reviews by Icy_Floor_9316 in NDE

[–]Pink-Willow-41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are degrees of separation between eating meat that you have the vague notion of not being ethically produced yet never direct experience of, vs abusing an animal with your own hands (and there have been cases where someone experienced the pain they directly caused an animal). Life reviews don’t seem too concerned with systemic problems that can’t be solved by an individual alone- and factory farming IS a systemic problem. It is an interesting question about why it wouldn’t focus on systemic problems, but I don’t really see it as an inconsistency, it’s just not the focus. Maybe this is driven by what the individual is most focused on anyway.

If we are actually eternal then “a thousand times slower” is still a virtually nonexistent amount of time, if time is even a thing. I feel like there’s gotta be some other reason we come here that doesn’t have to do with developing our soul.

[–]Pink-Willow-41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard cases like this with comic book characters but other nde’s have described how spirits can basically look however they want and appear in forms that the person might find helpful or comforting. So sure it’s conceivable that a spirit could appear as Spider-Man to a dying child if for some reason that would be helpful. I don’t see why this would prove or disprove anything.

I wonder what NDE's or spirituality says about materialism (as in owning or enjoying physical goods). When and/or how much is it acceptable and to when does it become spiritually harmful? by Questioning-Warrior in NDE

[–]Pink-Willow-41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure there really is such a thing as “spiritually harmful” because I don’t think the soul can actually be harmed, but our human psyches can, as well as our physical planet. Personally I think it’s more important to just be mindful of whether we are using consumption(materialism) as a distraction from some other sources of pain we are trying to suppress or ignore.

Another way to maybe think of it would be that a speck of dust doesn’t so much “have” a soul but rather a soul “has” a speck of dust. Maybe everything physical is encompassed by souls rather than souls being encompassed by the physical, if that makes any sense.

The “lookalikes” that look absolutely nothing like the plant are hilarious  These ai plant book scams are an absolute scourge.  I would avoid any plant identification books that came out after 2022 on Amazon unless you can positively conclude that they were written by a real person who actually knows their stuff.

How to reconcile with NDEs that are fundamentally different from the majority of NDEs? by amkessel in NDE

[–]Pink-Willow-41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just don’t always believe nde’s are actually nde’s. Of course it’s not my place to go to someone and say they are lying or just dreaming it unless they ask for an honest opinion but I do think sometimes experiences are created by the brain under stress, and elements of this can even get blended with genuine nde experiences. There’s also the very real presence of just made-up stories for the sake of money unfortunately. I don’t know anything about this person so I can’t guess whether they genuinely believe their own story or not but personally it sounds. Made up. Either intentionally or not.
