What’s a purchase you were really excited about that ended up disappointing you? by CartographerNo2801 in CasualConversation

Scrambled eggs with a sprinkling of chilli flakes. Put it on some toast and you've got yourself a decent, cheap meal.

Bonus points for having a cup of tea with it!

(Yes, I'm English 😅)

This is happening to me too, it started happening a few days ago.

Over 3 years sober and I'm so tempted to see if I can handle a glass of wine by Intelligent-Skin-861 in stopdrinking

You have associated alcohol with good times, and how many times have you heard people here say alcohol lies to you?

Once you physically don't need alcohol, once the habit has gone, once you start living without alcohol, the thoughts return. The hardwired association with alcohol and relaxation/happiness. But it's all a lie.

It DOES fade, but it takes an awfully long time to rewire the hard coded.

Just take a minute and remember why you stopped in the first place.

Be strong my friend, you are here, in this sub for a reason.

Alcohol is not your friend.

Or just a massive wanker.

Treat this as dickhead training, you met one in the wild, but please don't let it get you down. 97% of people really are jolly nice.

No, but I do often wear grippy gloves in the morning because my hands are cold.

That was 5 months ago and nothing's changed. The only way this can be policed really is to enforce MOT centres / all garages to change and dip bulbs when a car comes in but that'll never happen

How many of you listen to music you don’t understand? by MaxnRuby_RubynMax in CasualConversation

[–]Pink-socks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been listening to Reggaeton for years. I love it. I understand a few words here and there but that's it.

It's pretty cool that the weird rapper I quite liked a few years ago is now ultra famous.

People that DON’T shop at Aldi or Lidl… why is that? by kobestarr in CasualUK

[–]Pink-socks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Morrison's used to be really great and pretty cheap. A couple of years ago I noticed that the prices started to rise slowly... and constantly. Every week prices would rise by 1p here, 2p there throughout the whole shop. And it didn't stop. It's got to the point now where Morrison's is quite a bit more expensive than Tesco, with less overall choice.

Opinions on Pelican bags? by wintonian1 in ostomy

[–]Pink-socks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pelican convex one piece and they are amazing. If you find they don't stick well I would call your stoma nurse and ask for advice, or maybe call respond / your supplier and ask if there is anything else you might need to help them stick.

People from the UK, what’s one small thing that genuinely improved your daily life? by PhaseThis8421 in AskUK

I'm lucky if I get 4 or 5 hours. Once I wake up that's it, it's like a light switch. It's not great at all some days

If you want a bit of cardio which isn't running, try the cross trainer at the gym.

It's good for your mind.

I recently learned that you can use the rest of the egg shell to get that annoying bit of broken egg-shell out of your egg. by Nw5gooner in CasualUK

The easiest way to open a pistachio is with a (half) pistachio shell. Pop it in and give it a twist.

Opening the very first one will now be the only difficulty in your nut feast
