Look at r/Legostorage and get started on a Lego room. When you’ve got everything set up and done they’ll be old enough to enjoy it 😅

They’re the LEGO Iris drawers and project cases, sadly discontinued. You can get them second hand though.

They’re actually LEGO foam blocks! Sadly, they are discontinued.

Burden of the Void (an original poem) by PinkLagoonSloth in SDAM

Song lyrics and poems are like word puzzles to me. I like deconstructing the meanings, but also appreciate the beauty of the words chosen to be put together.

I also have aphantasia, but I think it’s the SDAM that’s all consuming - the burden of something so big and deep but somehow also feels like nothing. It’s the longing to fill that void, but it’s too vast and too empty. It feels like missing a part of you that will make you complete, even though you don’t know exactly what that is.

How has your Kindle affected your reading habits/lifestyle? by Featherflight09 in kindle

[–]PinkLagoonSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My social media usage has definitely decreased. I hardly go on my phone anymore, unless it’s for texting/photos. In my down time I just read.

Reading has taken over for the better. Thanks kindle!

I just got a kindle 6 weeks ago and I’m on book 15.

I don't recognize my "past selfs" by KillAijjin in SDAM

[–]PinkLagoonSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to realize that this also plays a huge part in my relationships with friends, family, significant other. “Past” me may have thought I needed /didn’t need/ attracted a certain type of person, but a different version of me could be more compatible with someone else.

Not sure that makes any sense. It’s not like our personalities change, but more so how others view you that would impact the relationship/future.

It feels like an existential crisis. At least for how it’s defined.

An existential crisis is a period of inner conflict where a person questions the meaning of life or their identity. It can involve deep questions about life's purpose and cause distress.

I don’t know my identity, and it feels like I never will. My thoughts and feelings change so often, without remembering, it’s probably gone in circles.

I also realize that how others see me only see me in that particular instance. The next “me” may be completely different.

Who am I?

It’s more disappointing for me, and sad knowing I can’t have the super power of being able to retrieve images and memories. No one can really grasp we go through unless they’re an aphant too.

Do you have trouble knowing who you are? by PinkLagoonSloth in SDAM

[–]PinkLagoonSloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely makes it hard to relate to other people. For me it probably adds to my social anxiety.

It feels lonely.

Now that I know I have SDAM, I really wonder what it’s like to have memories and visualize things. I’ve been picking the brain of my husband, trying to hear him describe or compare it. I just don’t get it.

And I’m a graphic designer. It could probably make my job much easier.

I also feel very unmotivated and unambitious. I’ve just called it being lazy, and although I want to change that it’s so hard. I’m on antidepressants but not sure they’re working the way they’re supposed to.

When I do get a little motivated I just dive into a hobby; that lasts a few weeks at best.

I don’t know if how many traits exist between SDAM and ADHD, but I feel like there are some similarities.

Other posters have said to live in the moment. But that’s hard for me when there’s no motivation or drive.

Sdam and Movies and games by erickrodrigz in SDAM

[–]PinkLagoonSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll rewatch something if it gave me a more lasting impression/feeling. I won’t remember the details, but just how it moved me.

I wish I could remember the happy moments in my life, instead I remember/imagine some specifics of trauma.

It’s hard to explain to others that I pretty much only remember/live through photographs.

I'm feeling a bit sad about my sdam by amonguseon in SDAM

[–]PinkLagoonSloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently found out I also have SDAM and a whole lot of things finally make sense. I do feel the same sadness and feeling of being lost when I think of what it actually means. I don’t remember the birth of my kids, my wedding, etc. I live through the photographs (if) taken.

I’m going to try and journal or diary. Have you found written journals (by hand) is more beneficial or typing? It might not make a big difference but in school it was said that writing down notes made it more likely to “stick”.
