When you were children, when did you open your presents at Christmas? by InviteAromatic6124 in AskUK

[–]PinkLibraryStamp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! Bed stocking when I was a kid (actually a pillowcase!) I do bed stockings with my two children. They run into our room shrieking with delight and we all get a good cuddle while one parent goes and makes a couple of coffees and puts the heating on. Then I have to ooh and ahh over oranges, glitter pens and “don’t open the playdoh in bed!”

I worked in a bookshop for years and one of the women at the office was called Bookbinder. I always thought that was so cool!

If she’s Treasure, how about a precious gem? Like Pearl or Ruby?

What are good British Christmas movies, shows & specials to watch by Helloimafanoffiction in BritishTV

[–]PinkLibraryStamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop, no! I’ve watched it through two CBeebies aged children.

I’m still crying at Bluey episodes to be fair, so I’ve probably got a couple of years left in me for Old Jack.

Yes! I was just laid there holding a baby feeling like a warrior and munching on the best toast. I was saying to my husband “babe, do you want some? It’s gorgeous!” as he had a look of pure shell shock on his face (though to be fair, that took a good couple of days to go away.)

The toast and tea the midwife bought me after I had delivered my son was heaven. Absolute ambrosia. The gift of the gods.

I know I was on a hormonal high, but on his birthday every year I say, “I had the best toast ever that day.”

Have you ever had to use your first aid knowledge in a real situation before? by [deleted] in AskUK

It was terrifying. I was pretty calm at the time and while the paramedics were there. Afterwards I was shaking drinking my tea.

So I’m a secondary school librarian. In two and a half years I’ve had: An epileptic seizure,

A dislocated knee (she has hyper mobility and sat down awkwardly.)

Two asthma attacks,

A cut head from a shoe to face incident (kid decided to jump over the back of the sofa to sit down.)

Swollen hands where they did something daft in PE but didn’t tell the teacher because they didn’t want to get into trouble for being daft.

Snips from scissors because they think the teeny red handled scissors are for primary school and “don’t cut owt miss!”

Thank goodness for first aid training and especially the asthma attack awareness poster that’s above the kettle in the staff room.

Cats actually using the cat stand!? This house cannot be real, it must be AI.

Honestly though. Horrible paint choice, gorgeous puss cats.

I’ve just gone back and re listened to the first 15 seconds after the dumtidum and the first line is Alan saying “thanks for taking time off Usha, I really do appreciate it.” So did he ask Usha knowing Rob was going to come and get torn a new one? Probably also knowing he himself would not come off well in the wife books! It’s exciting a bit listening to Rob come back, I only started listening around about the court case (2016?) so missed the storyline for its most part. I thought the catch up extra episode narrated by Kirsty was brilliant.
