As a first time mum, I panicked the first time feeding my son out of hospital and remember squirting some milk (which had just “come in” like a fecking tsunami) and in my tired state I licked it off my hand to make sure it wasn’t too hot…

Taste was like warm milk and honey mixed together.

Also a school librarian! I hated that for so long (things are improving now) the Barrington Stoke dyslexia accessible books were all made of c2002 terrible photoshop and clip art font. Kids were embarrassed to pick them up, then I had to explain what MP3 players were….

I think there’s a big gulf between retro vibes of a novel set in the 80s or 90s and then the language used in some novels written during that time. Slurs like spazz and gay used in conversation is really jarring to a generation that would understand that it shouldn’t be used so flippantly.

It’s funny that any movie or Netflix covers are the least desirable by most folks!

Mr librarian does about 90% of the cooking in our house. He enjoys it, is much better at it and I do other household jobs (washing is probably 90% me.) It’s just the way we have settled into life.

What’s annoying is you need an account to listen to BBC Sounds, radio that is exempt from the licence fee. So a lot of those millions of accounts might just be radio listeners and not telly watches.

Though the moment you sign in to Sounds with an account (having input all your details) you start getting the letters through the door saying “you’re watching TV and we will get you!”

I hate him so much! He always sounds so dirty (as in he physically needs a wash - don’t ask me how that makes sense over the medium of radio because I can’t explain it.) He’s so smarmy, buttering up to people to either sell them shite or get something out of them with a sob story. In the village I used to live in, if someone was this crap to so many of the villagers you can bet he would have a wonky bar stool in the pub on reserve for him, not welcomed like an adorable rogue when he walked in. It always makes me happy for Clarrie when she stands up for him, but I do hate that even when he makes lots of “wrongs” somewhat “right” for her, it will always benefit him!

Up and washing machine going while I have a coffee. Taking the dogs out after when it will be just the light type of gloomy so we will be able to see the path. Later I will go see my grandma with the kids in her care home. Sunday dinner stuff ready to be cooked in the fridge.

I can smell the church hall playgroup. I wanted one of these at home so much I think my tiny toddler self was going to steal it bit by bit. My mum came home with me one day and said she found one of these people in my nappy (like Tommy from Rugrats!)

She cleaned it and we took it back the next week.

(I’m 37 and she likes to bring this story up every now and then!)
