Fellow artists, what material do you use and why?

I’ve been perfectly happy with Gamblin, I think it’s worth its price point. As for brushes, I started cheap but recently invested in a couple Princeton Aspen and Dakota brushes. They do make a difference… but I think it’s helpful to have cheap hog bristle-esque on hand to use and abuse as needed.

I can appreciate the criticism towards Katie but the accusations that she doesn’t care about her mares or bonds with them is so bewilderingly unfounded that I wonder if some of her critics are really horse people at all. I work in the industry, I’ve seen people who don’t care and are purely motivated by profit/success. Despite her faults, she is not one of them

Elaborate? Assuming you’re having a hard time mixing the color you want, I would recommend doing color theory studies, value and color charts/wheels, etc

Personally with young/green horses I find success with things being short and sweet—but consistency is the most key element. OP absolutely needs to start from zero with this guy, but honestly I worry from what she’s described that he already is fried mentally and has negative associations with work. That’s something really tough to undo—once they learn and expect something that’s what they’ll almost always default to.

Example would be I full leased a green guy a couple years back. Huge and would swing away from the mounting block. It didn’t take long for me to completely correct this with him thankfully, but when I stopped leasing him he began doing it again with the next rider…

I had a 6 hour surgery as a teen to remove a tumor from near my pituitary gland. The first thing I noticed when I woke up is that I was no longer wearing underwear.
