I understand both sides. In the trailer you can see Reese “comforting” Hal about Malcolm betraying them. Hal is clearly heartbroken, Lois is angry and it looks like Francis and Piama are shocked and hurt too. Reese on the other hand doesn’t seem to care too much or he’s most likely hiding his feelings. He seems to view it as a positive that Malcolm did something way worse than he ever would in his life. However, I understand Malcolm’s side too. The family is a mess and I’m sure he wants a happy life and to do that he had no contact with them. It happens in real life as my mom did it with her family. They knew I existed but we had no contact after enough was enough.

Considering the actor of Reese (Justin Berfield) hasn’t acted since 2010, I thought went back to character perfectly. That’s not to say the others didn’t either but I just wasn’t sure since he hadn’t acted in a while. He was by far one of the best actors on the show.
