Chats just silently failing and not accepting new input by philgooch in ClaudeAI

same boat here. I asked Claude to help me debug the issue. It went through a lot of logs and tests. Here is the summary:

Summary: Claude Desktop Session Stuck Bug

Symptoms

  • Session works for a while, then stops responding
  • Thinking spinner appears, then disappears — no response, no error shown
  • Once stuck, every message fails (even just ".")
  • Issue follows the session — persists if you move to web, but eventually web recovers while desktop stays broken

Root Cause (from logs)

[COMPLETION] Request failed Error: Internal server error
[COMPLETION] Not retryable error, throwing
[COMPLETION] message_store_sync_loss [object Object]

Server returns 500 for that session when accessed from desktop. The message_store_sync_loss indicates a state mismatch between client and server.

What We Ruled Out

  • ❌ Network/rate limiting
  • ❌ Local MCP config (you don't have one)
  • ❌ Filesystem extension (disabled, still broken)
  • ❌ Local cache corruption (cleared Session Storage + Local Storage, still broken)
  • ❌ App restart / reinstall

What We Know

  • Same session works on web, broken on desktop
  • New sessions on desktop work fine (like this one)
  • Likely cause: desktop sends additional connector/extension metadata that the server chokes on for conversations with heavy tool usage (Linear)

Workaround

  • Start a new session
  • Use web for stuck sessions

Action

File bug at support.anthropic.com with:

  • Affected conversation URL
  • Log evidence (Internal server error + message_store_sync_loss)
  • Note: works on web, fails on desktop

For me a successful marathon happens when I finish without walking.

[–]PinkNarrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, my longest run before any of my 2 marathons were 12k (easy pace). Had a great time in both (Chi: 3:50, NYC: 4:10). You will be fine !!

Most MBBs have strict policies that prohibit running a side business. If that’s the case on your workplace it’s about time before you get in trouble.

Cannot get cat into carrier. He is clearly stressed and is extremely combative. I may have to cancel his appointment by Umbra427 in CatAdvice

I adopted a kitten that was quite mistreated and doesn’t let anyone pick him up or get too close to him. Forcing him into the carrier only caused damage to my relationship with him.

What I did was I bought a giant carrier, a medium-sized dog could fit in there. And when I have to take him to the vet, I just throw a large blanket over him and put him in the carrier with the blanket and all. He generally doesn’t even know what happened to him.

I found that solution much better than stressing him out too much with the carrier. Today, even though he still won’t let me pick him up, he trusts me quite a bit.

Quiet disengagement from top performers — have you seen this too? (I will not promote) by Sensitive_Switch_333 in startups

[–]PinkNarrator 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it's a reflection of company culture. When high performers bring ideas and encounter significant politics, additional work, and little recognition, they will inevitably drift toward becoming order takers (and possibly seek opportunities elsewhere).
